How Much Air Can the Ventline Vanair Trailer Roof Vent # VP-543SP Move
Updated 08/04/2020 | Published 05/15/2016 >
Question:
I was wondering if I could install this as a regular vent fan, but also temporarily connect the exhaust from a portable AC unit to it? Specifically Im wondering if it would let enough air flow through with the way the cover is designed. The portable AC units seem to have a 5inch round exhaust duct. I know I would have to fabricate a method of connecting that duct to the fan, just wondering about flow capacity.

The Ventline Vanair Trailer Roof Vent # VP-543SP that you referenced can move 100 CFM. You would need to determine if that's enough air flow for the exhaust of your portable AC unit.

It's not enough cfm. You will need a 5" unobstructed opening to move the hot air out efficiently. I've tried this already. The mobile AC unit will get hot after 1mim and shut the compressor off.
