Question:
Hello, we are looking for a recommendation for a bike rack to fit a 2inch hitch for 2 mtn bikes on a Dodge Ram pro master 3500 van conversion. We would like to have enough clearance to open the rear doors. Ideally we have 2 possible options 1 we keep the bikes on the rack and the rack swings around to the side of the RV, or2we take the bikes off and the doors clear the rack or the rack folds down. Any suggestions on racks?

We have a number of bike racks with a swing-away feature that will allow you to keep the bikes loaded and swing the rack away from the doors of your Ramp Promaster 3500 conversion van.
Our most popular swing away bike rack is the Thule Apex Swing 4 # TH9027XT. I like this rack because it is easy to operate the swing away function, offers great features, and won't break the bank. A spring pin and hand knob are all that is needed to operate the bike rack's swing away feature for ease of use. This bike rack features HideAway cradles with anti-sway to secure your bikes at 3 points and help prevent bike to bike contact during transport. The included anti-rattle hitch pin system will allow the bike rack to fit securely inside the hitch receiver to minimize movement and rattle and has an integrated lock. The rack also features an integrated cable lock to secure the bikes to the rack.
To make sure that the bike rack will clear the bumper of your Promaster, you can take a quick clearance measurement. Using a yard stick held vertically at the bumper, you can measure from the center of the hitch pin on the hitch receiver to the end of the bumper. This will let you know what distance is needed for the rack to clear the bumper.
I have attached a review video of this rack for you. I have also attached a link to all of our swing-away bike racks if the Apex Swing does not work well for you.
If you plan on carrying any women's or children's bike that don't have the traditional straight upper frame bar, I recommend using a bike adapter bar like # UB01 to provide an easier mounting setup for the bike on the bike rack. I've also attached a review video of this adapter bar for you.
