The Derale 32 inch High-Output, Electric Radiator Fan-and-Shroud Assembly - 4,000 CFM, item # D16934, is designed as a universal application and will mount behind the radiator on your 1985 Ford with 6.9 Liter diesel engine.
You will need to measure to be sure there is room to mount the assembly behind the radiator. I have listed the dimensions below.
Width - 31-3/8 inches
Height - 15-3/4 inches
Overall Depth - 3-1/4 inches
Mounting Holes - 12-7/8 inches Top to Bottom
Mounting holes - 28-7/8 inches Side to Side
You will also need two turn-on sources, one for each fan. You could use two Derale Lighted On/Off Switch for Electric Fans, item # D16740, or one of these switches and a Derale Adjustable Fan-Control Thermostat with Radiator Hose Probe, item # D16769. If you wanted both fans to come on thermostatically you can use two of the Derale Adjustable Fan-Control Thermostat with Radiator Hose Probe, item # D16769.
