Curt TriFlex C24VV Brake Controller Displays 9.9 With Brake Pedal When Trailer is Disconnected

Question:

Just installed new trifex control in a 2011 GMC Sierra. Flashes 9.9 when I apply the brake. No trailer hooked up

The fact that your Curt # C24VV TriFlex brake controller is displaying 9.9 on the LED display doesn't indicate a problem, it's perfectly normal and indicates the controller is working properly, according to the instructions.

On page 5 of the instructions, it states that if a trailer isn't connected the output setting (adjusted using the dial on the controller, adjustable from .5 to 9.9 is flashed on the display when the brake pedal is pressed or the manual brake switch is pressed.
