Can A-Frame Trailer Jack be Removed and Side Frame Mounted Jack Installed
Updated 03/08/2016 | Published 03/06/2016 >
Question:
I have a tent trailer with an a-frame jack. It gets in the way, especially if I want to mount a cargo carrier with the dual receiver. I was wondering if I can remove the a-frame jack and install a side mounted jack. Would it hurt the trailer? The trailer is small and weighs less than 1,000 pounds. What are your thoughts? Thank you for your time

You can remove the A-Frame jack and install a frame-mounted jack on your trailer if you want to. It would not harm the trailer but if you wanted you could weld in some pipe in the old A-frame jack hole or cover it top and bottom with steel plates to ensure rigidity.
I recommend a swivel jack, # PSEJ10000101, that can rotate out of the way when you tow the trailer. This jack bolts on up to 3x5 inch frames and has a 1,000 pound capacity. I have linked some videos on this jack for you.
