The only baseplates we offer for a 2003 Mazda Miata is the Roadmaster XL Base Plates, part # 711-4.

If you have a Blue Ox tow bar, we do offer an adapter that allows you to use the Blue Ox tow bar with the Roadmaster XL base plates. You would need part # BX88178.

If you do not have a tow bar, I recommend the RoadMaster Falcon, part # RM-520. This would eliminate the need for an adapter with the RoadMaster base plates.

If you are not familiar with flat-towing, you can check out the linked helpful article about flat-towing. You will need 5 items. The base plates for your Miata, a tow bar, safety cables, lighting for your towed vehicle, and most states now require supplemental braking when flat towing.

Since we have the base plates covered and I assume you have the tow bar I will make some recommendations for the remaining items.

For safety cables I recommend part # RM-643. These are 68 inch single hook, coiled vinyl covered cables that keeps the cables from scratching ot chipping the tow bar.

For lighting, there are a couple of options to choose from. If you are not planning on towing your Miata often, I recommend magnetic light kit like part # RM-2120. If you do plan on towing it often I recommend installing diodes, like part # RM-15267. I have attached links to a couple of helpful articles about tow bar wiring you can check out.

For a supplemental brake system I recommend part # BLU37TR because it is very easy to set up and use. This system applies the brakes in the towed vehicle in proportion to the motorhome braking action.

You will probably need a high-low adapter so the tow bar will be level when flat-towing. I have attached a link to our product page for adapters you can take a look at.

You will need to check your owner's manual or with the dealership to see if there are restrictions for flat-towing your Miata.
