What Powers the Interior Light of a Horse Trailer
Updated 02/23/2016 | Published 02/22/2016 >
Question:
All the lights work brakes and running lamps etc.. the 2 interior lights will not come on even when its plugged in to the truck. I checked the bulbs and they are good what powers those 2 interior lights anyway. There is a breakaway battery that I just replaced but apparently that does not power those lights. Any suggestions? Thanks

The interior lights of your trailer would either be powered by an auxiliary battery in the trailer or straight from the 12 volt accessory circuit of the trailer connector on your tow vehicle.
Your best option would be to try and trace the wiring of the lights back to where they end on your trailer to find out how they power.
Most likely they get power from the trailer connector. You will want to check out the wiring diagrams in the link I attached to find out which style of connector you have so that you can test to see if the 12 volt accessory circuit is working properly.
If the circuit isn't working it is most likely a blown fuse or relay under the hood of the truck.
