Troubleshooting a Honda Accord Hitch Installation by a Local Shop

A local shop installed my hitch on my 2012 accord and left the heat shields in the trunk. Shouldnt they have been reinstalled?

I can help you find out what's going on with your heat shield on your 2012 Honda Accord.

According to Curt's directions, the heat shield only needs slight trimming and should be reinstalled after installation of the trailer hitch.

I've included an image from the instructions of the heat shield and the small portion that should be trimmed for your convenience as well as the part of the directions that state that the heat shield should be reinstalled after trimming.

Hey Dylan, so we have the Brophy hitch expander part #HTAD which is Class I compatible but the adapter you mentioned can only be used with Class II hitches so it wouldn't work for you.

We have a 1-1/4 inch to 2 inch hitch adapter that is compatible with Class I 1-1/4 inch hitches like the part #HTAD or for a similar setup that provides additional rise you'd want the part #HT5R.
