Trailer Hitch and Wiring for a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport

Question:
I like the integrated look of this hitch for the Santa Fe GLS. I know C13153 is not the recommended hitch for my Santa Fe Sport turbo AWD but is this hitch compatible with my sport model if I cut a hole in the silver rear bumper skirt for the hitch receiver. Really looking for a more integrated looking hitch than what you have currently for my Sport. If C13153 wont work with this mod, whats keeping it from being compatible e.g. size is different? mounts? exhaust? Really appreciate any help. Thanks.

I can't recommend using a hitch that is not designed to fit your vehicle. It would fit since the Sport and Limited/GLS models are built on the same frame, but would likely require extensive fascia trimming at the very least. But the manufacturer does not test hitch # C13153 on the 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport so it would void the warranty, make the capacity unknown, and could potentially be unsafe.
I recommend sticking with hitch # C13152 which is designed specifically to fit your Sport model. If you plan on doing some towing I recommend etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.
If the ball mount kit does not have the right rise or drop to tow the trailer level, use the link I have included that explains how to measure to choose a ball mount to tow the trailer level.
For trailer wiring, if your Santa Fe does NOT have the factory tow package use # 118571. If it does have the factory tow package then use # C56332. I have linked videos showing example installations of the hitch and both wiring harnesses for you.
