Do You have Grease Caps for a 1.935 Bore Diameter Hub

Question:

hi. i have a old trailer hup yhar measures 1.935 diamiter. i have two calipers and checked it with both and the readining was the same. i dont see a grease cap listed for that diamiter. i have two 1.935 caps that i think i got at napa, however they are only 1 in deep which is not deep enough. this was th only size they carried

If there is any corrosion built up on the hub, it could be built up corrosion built up on the hub bore making the hole read smaller.

Grease caps do not have to be very deep. They only have to go in far enough to fit snug and tight inside the hub bore. Many grease caps have a flange length of just a little over a 1/4 inch, and most are well under a 1/2 inch.

If their is a bit of corrosion, try lightly scrubbing with some steel wool. After cleaning it up, a 1.943 cap like part # F001524 should fit. It is less than 10/1000 of an inch in difference. A piece of typical printer paper measures 3/1000 of an inch. They may take a little bit more muscle to drive in, but are close enough to fit.

Are these hubs purpose built for a trailer axle? If these hubs were vehicle hubs used to build a trailer axle, they may not use standard trailer size grease caps.

We do have Bearing Buddies that are even closer in size. They are 1.938 bore diameter, part # BB1938 for chrome and part # BB1938SS for stainless.
