Question:
I am new to 5th wheels, and have a 2104 Ram 2500 short bed. I like the idea of the auto-slide hitch, however, at my house I need to be able to unhitch with the truck at a 45* or more angle. Is it possible to unit check at an angle with this setup? Thanks!

The max angle a Demco Hijacker like part # DM8550038 can disconnect is 8-10 degrees. 45 degrees would be too extreme. I have a solution for you that will allow you to tow your trailer without having to manual operate a slider though.
You would need to replace the pin box on your trailer with a Sidewinder.
Sidewinders are pin box specific so you will first need to know what pin box you have now in order to pick out the correct one.
There should be a sticker or a stamping on the OEM pin box of the trailer that will list the pin box number that is on the trailer.
Once you figure out which pin box you have you can check the FAQ I attached that has a chart that shows the correct Sidewinder to get based on which pin box you have.
For a rail kit you would then need a custom install kit like the part # RP50054-58. A custom install kit like this will install easier and will minimize drilling. For a hitch then you would want to go with a stationary hitch like the part # RP30928.
