Can Dual-Cam Sway Control be Added to an Older Reese Weight Distribution System
Updated 09/08/2015 | Published 09/05/2015 >
Question:
I just bought a Travel Trailer Dry Wt. about 3700 Length 30 Had a Class III Weight Distributing Hitch Installed on my 2010 Nissan Frontier LE 4WD 4.0L rated for Up To 6100# Max Tow Capacity. The Trailer came w/an Older Reese WD Hitch System I think it used to be called Part #49902. Will these work as an Add-On to this older System: REESE WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION SPRING TORSION TRAILER HITCH, 1 1/8inch Spring Bar, Max Hitch WT 750, Max Gross Trailer WT 10,000 ? Stamp on end of Bars is: 22210 E. If not what do you recommend as the least costly yet Safest Sway Control System that I should have added to the my system? [Costs are adding up Tremendously!] I am under the impression that whatever I get will need to be Dual Sided due to the Length of my Trailer. Thank You.

You have a very old system there! You would not be able to add dual-cam sway control # RP26002 to this system. Dual-cam systems require the bars with the cam hook ends and will not work with tapered straight bars.
The system would not be a # PS49582 because that is a newer system with round bars, not trunnion bars. If the head that holds the ball looks like # 58333 with those 2 smaller holes on the far left and right on top of the head then you can use 2 friction bar style units, # 83660. It is hard to tell from the picture if the head has this design.
