Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a Fifth Wheel Trailer to Tow Boat

Question:

I am looking for a hitch for my fifth wheel, to tow my boat! I am looking at #13703 hitch. The thing that i am wanting to know is, the measurement diagram shows that there is a 3inch space from the bend where it goes to the frame and the crossbar. My channel on the rv is 4inch that I have to get over. Can I cut the cross bar and it still be strong enough. I am going 71inch Thanks for any help,

The great thing about the Adjustable Width hitch part # 13703 is that it can fit a wide variety of trailer frames due to it's universal nature. There is probably a way you could get the # 13703 to fit your trailer.

It sounds like you are interested in installing the hitch using the lower portion of the mounting bracket to secure it to the frame. It is recommended that you use the higher portion of the bracket to install on the outsides of your trailer frame like the picture I attached shows.

I also attached an install video for you to check out as well. Lastly, you will want to check with the trailer manufacturer to determine if towing a trailer is recommended.
