Will Upgrading Trailer Suspension Stop Tires from Blowing Out

Question:

Hi, well I have a Montana 335rlbs 2004 pull trailer. So Ive been told that I need to up grade my supention. Because I keep blowing tires, 15. So how do I go to 16inch G or F tires and wheels? I guess a lot of money. 2 axels complete w/ brakes and 8 lug, 4springs sets and all hard ware. Tires and wheels. And what am I forgetting? Can you help?

Before spending a lot of money on a trailer overhaul let's first look at the reasons tires blow. Basically, trailer tires blow from excessive heat or overloading. Excessive heat can come from running the tires faster than they are rated for, under inflating the tires, or because something is off with the suspension.

Make sure that you are within the capacity of the tires and that they are inflated to the maximum psi indicated on the tires. This is because trailer tires are built with a thicker sidewall than passenger vehicle tires to handle more vertical load. If under inflated the thicker sidewall generates excessive heat and can lead to failure.

You can inspect the suspension first. Look for obvious signs of wear, broken parts, and egg-shaped holes.

What I would do if the suspension seems to be in good shape is just try the different tires for now. You need to make sure that you have enough space all around the existing tires to go to the larger size. I can tell you the size differences but I would need to know the tires size on the trailer now. I have included some links on trailer tires that should help.
