Question:

Trying to by a blue ox alpha tow bar and base plate for same for my LJ jeep Your site shows two base plates dIfferent p/n same connection to tow bar. And tow bar same p/n but different connection. How do I get the right combo?

First, for base plates you can use the linked page to see all options for your 2005 Jeep Wrangler.

It is generally easiest to stay with one brand for both base plates and tow bars (to avoid the need for adapters) so if you have either a u-channel or double tube bumper you'll use Blue Ox base plate kit # BX1120. You can then use the Blue Ox Alpha tow bar # BX7380 which includes the required safety cables.

Other items needed to flat tow include a wiring/lighting kit and a supplementary braking system like the wireless and portable Blue ox Patriot, part # BLU37TR. The easiest type of lighting kit to install is a magnetic light kit that requires no cutting or splicing into your Jeep's wiring. You can use Optronics # TLL21RK.
