Question:

I have a 2006 vue with factory chrome rails. I want to haul 2 kayaks. I was told by the dealer that cross bars for my vehicle are no longer available. Can you help. Everything I find says doesnt fit the factory installed chrome rails.

We have several bars that will work for your 2006 Saturn Vue with chrome rails. I recommend the Thule WingBar Evo system. The WingBars are one of the quietest crossbars on the market. They can hold up to 165 pounds, but it is always a good idea to check your owner's manual for the weight capacity of your roof. You need the Evo raised rail feet # TH710401 and the 47 inch Wingbars in either silver, # TH711200, or black, # TH711220. I've linked a video of this system on a different vehicle. The install process is the same though.

If you need a kayak carrier, I recommend Thule's The Stacker # TH830. This carrier will allow you to carry up to 4 kayaks on their sides. The carrier comes with one pair of tie-down straps and one pair of bow and stern tie down ropes. To secure two kayaks, you would want two additional tie-down straps # 753-2030-02 and two bow and stern tie-down ropes # 853-5466.
