How to Determine Correct Replacement Leaf Spring for 2004 Forest River Toy Hauler Trailer

Question:

I have a 2004 Forest river T29 toy hauler. Has 2 axles in tandem. GVW is 14100 LBS. Trailer is sagging to the left. Ground clearance of left side is 3/4inch less than right. It has tags on the springs that say Rockwell American 93115L2. Using this number can you tell what replacement springs I need with out removing them first to measure? Thank you.

Trailer leaf springs will measure differently when under load so its tough to get an accurate eye-to-eye dimension without removing the spring. Also, after years of use a leaf spring can stretch and actually lengthen by as much as 1/2 to 3/4-inch. Since you are seeing some sag and the trailer is a decade old that is likely to be the case unless there is another suspension component that is damaged.

I checked the Forest River website for any information on your toy hauler's suspension parts but this information is not provided even for their current units, so your best bet is to contact them with your trailer VIN to see if they can tell you the length of spring you need.

If you want to you can remove one of the springs and measure it and note the axle's rated capacity on its sticker. With the spring's length and the axle capacity you can use the linked page for double-eye leaf springs to sort the results. Filters on the page allow you to match your axle rating and spring length and number of leaves to find suitable replacement parts.
