Disc Brake Kit Recommendation for 1986 EZ Loader Boat Trailer
Updated 06/25/2015 | Published 06/24/2015 >
Question:
What brake kit would you recommend for a 1986 EZ Loader Boat Trailer Series or Model TM 7 5400# with G.V.W.R. 7000 and VIN# 1ZE1LEZ26GA00***** written on EZ Loader certificate of origin for a vehicle boat trailer title? document that came with the used boat trailer in 2013. The boat trailer is tandem axle that appears to have two new axles without the complete drum brakes on both axles that was probably installed by my father who probably installed them before I purchased the boat trailer in March 2013. The trailer is currently at Toms Trailers in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin being repaired and I might want to purchase either a disc to drum brake kit for only one axle to to give to them for installation. The EZ Loader boat trailer weighs 1608 pounds listed as shipping weight on the title and the boat it will carry is a 1985 Sea Ray Sundancer 250 25 foot cuddy cabin boat with single Mercruiser stern drive that weighs about 5000 pounds loaded with 70 gallons of fuel.

In order to see if we have a disc brake kit that will work for you, we will need to know a few key pieces of information; bolt pattern, axle capacity, wheel size, and inner and outer bearing numbers.
Although you provided some great information, since you mention that the trailer appears to have two new axles, I would not be able to use your VIN to obtain any info for your axles.
I have included a link to our disc brake kits for you. The filters on the page can be used to narrow down your search.
When it comes to determining your bearing numbers, the linked picture shows you the typical location and appearance of bearing, race and seal part numbers. If you are unable to read the numbers on your bearings you can measure the spindle with a precision caliper to the nearest thousandth of an inch. The locations to measure are shown in the picture.
If you would like to send me an email with your bolt pattern, axle capacity, wheel size, and inner and outer bearing numbers, I will be happy to offer a specific recommendations for your 1986 EZ Loader Boat Trailer.
