Question:
Are the shoes and magnets available for replacement after they start to wear out? Seams pretty costly and wasteful to have to purchase an entire assembly just because the linings start to wear. Starting to weigh going to disc for the very reason that I can buy JUST new pads for the disc system. I run 2,ooo miles a week and trying to control comy costs. Please let me know.

Yes, the brake shoes and magnets are available as replacement parts for 12 inch Nev-R-Adjust brake assembly # 23-464. Some brake assemblies have expensive replacement parts and on those it makes more sense to replace the whole assembly. For replacement shoes, left hand side use # K71-675 and for the right use # K71-676. The magnet is # BP01-225. The cost of a magnet and shoe/lining for one brake assembly costs more than the whole assembly.
Going to disc brakes is a great idea. Not only will you incur less maintenance cost but you will also have better braking and there are fewer moving parts so less chance of something going wrong. I have included a link to our help article that explains the parts needed to add hydraulic disc brakes.
