How to Pick Out the Correct Diameter Keel Roller for a Boat Trailer

Updated 03/17/2015 | Published 03/15/2015

Question:

I have a 2003 shorelander slr20lw trailer that I want to replace the 4 keel rollers. I do not know if I should get the 5/8 or 1/2 pin diameter. I will also need to know the correct triangular pin to order that holds the pin in the roller. Thx

If you are looking to reuse the current roller shafts that you have you will want to first measure the diameter of them so that you get a matching keel roller for that shaft. You also will want to measure the length of the roller so that you get the correct size in that regard as well.

The part # YR5213-5 that you referenced is 5 inches long and designed to fit a 5/8 inch shaft. For a 5/8 inch pal nut that will hold the shaft to the bracket you would want the part # CE10801. If you need a 1/2 inch diameter one you would want the part # CE10800.

For a 5 inch long keel roller designed for a 1/2 inch shaft you would want the part # YR5213-4P.
