Installing Brake Relay Switch On 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited For Flat Towing Behind Relay
Question:
If I install the braking unit in my jeep. when the pedal is depressed the brake lights come on. If I wire the RV to the tail lights with diodes, What will happen if both the RV and tow vehicle applies power the the same bulb. Will that give me 24v and blow the bulb or does it matter.

When installing a supplemental brake system on your 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, you will need to add a brake relay kit. If no kit is used, you can have all kinds of unpredictable results.
I recommend the Roadmaster Kit, part # RM-88400. I have attached a drawing that shows how this is to be installed on your system.
There are 4 wires that are attached to the relay. Use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 to find the right wires. The Green wire connects to the cold side of the vehicle brake light switch (this is the wire that only shows current when the brake pedal is pressed). Once you find this wire, just cut it and splice in the green wire from the relay. The Black wire from the relay connects to the severed wire you cut from the brake light switch. The white wire needs to be attached to a clean bare metal surface for a ground. The Red wire has the in-line fuse and needs to be connected to the hot side of any fuse that has power only when the ignition switch is on.
There are 5 things needed when you decide you want to flat-tow a vehicle. You need base plates, a tow bar, safety cables, lighting for the towed vehicle, and most states now require a supplemental brake system.
If you need any of the other components to flat-tow your Jeep just let me know and I will be happy to make some recommendations that will work for you.
