Hitch Recommendations for a 2014 Cruiser RV, Radiance 24BHDS Travel Trailer for Bike Rack

Published 01/16/2015

Question:

I have a 2014 Cruiser RV, Radiance 24BHDS travel trailer that I would like to put a bike rack on the back of. The manufacturer said the 4 inch bumper is not designed to hold a bike rack and that I should get a hitch receiver that can be bolted onto the frame of the trailer. Can you tell me what choices of hitch receivers would be? I believe I saw a post recommending the Curt 13703 adjustable receiver. However, that seems like a lot of money for a hitch receiver that only needs to support a bike rack and bikes. Are there any other options that would work for my camper? I want a 2inch receiver and I will probably use the Swagman Trailhead 4 bike rack. Thanks so much for any help you can provide.

The Curt Hitch part # 13703 that you referenced is a great hitch and the one we recommend the most because of it's wide range of trailer frames it fits. It fits frames that are 22 to 72 inches in width. Another option is the Utra-Fab # UF35-946403, but this is a weld-on hitch.

Now for a bike rack you will need one approved for the much rougher ride quality that is present at the rear of RVs and travel trailers. For that you can check out the link I provided that has all of the RV bike racks we carry. Once I recommend a lot is the Swagman Platform Rack part # S64663. Check out the review video I attached for more info on it.
