If the engine is off and your car's brake lights illuminate when you press the brake pedal, you need to install a brake light relay (RM-88400 - sold separately) with this kit. Without a relay, your car's brake signal will override the turn signal sent by the RV when you are slowing down to make a turn, creating a potentially dangerous situation. Other drivers will see that you're slowing down, but not that you're making a turn. With a brake light relay, you can signal both and travel safely.

Price was great but nothing beats the customer service Ive received so far.
I had some difficulty at my end when connecting to my 2004 Ford Ranger. My ability to use a multi-meter is not great, so I switched to a simple test light. Also, the wiring on my truck did not match Ford standard colors so I was a bit puzzled. Joshua at eTrailer was a great support, and once I figured out which wire was which on my truck, the installation of the new Universal Kit was easy. I was done within a few hours, including running the new wires all the way to the front bumper.

The installation went well, and it works as expected. The instructions rate it as a difficult install. At my age any work crawling around is difficult but the product went in without much fuss. Installed on my 2016 Kia Soul. Thanks for a good economical choice.
Didn’t work…father several conversations, I purchase new diodes and got it working
Pretty well just a box pf hardware. I bought some more diodes and figured out eventually
I didn't think the crimp connections were very good. I tried a number of crimp tools none that I have provided an adequate crimp. The wires would pull out too easy after crimping. Suggest the supplier might recommend the preferred crimp tool. I ended up removing the supplied connectors and using solder sleeves which worked well.
This required splicing into the tail light harness. I called and was told a plug and play was not available. I returned it after calling Curt who provided me the part number of a plug and play that I ordered on [online vendor].
Worst nightmare ever! Our mechanic has a person who wires cars for trailers. He could not make it work ($XXX). We were rushed to get it working, before our big summer trip and a Car Electronics Specialist got it working for us ($XXX). I guess I should have gone with a Blue Ox wiring kit. But nothing but this one was recommended to me.

unit did just what is was made for,,, works great
If it had been plugged in play, it would’ve been a fantastic product. But because you have to cut splice and do the wiring, I give it a three.
Not sure my installer used all of this item.

Two mislabeled circuits. One on the left and one on the right. Difficult installation. Took two days to complete and my son who works on aircraft avionics was the person to do most of the install. It works when finally all installed correctly. Lots of metering to get this done. We did a more difficult routing through the car and firewall to hide and protect all the wiring. Also ran an additional wire if we ever add trailer hitch and need power for that install.
I have bought off of you before everything was great this is the first time that I received something that was not what it was supposed to be or was used before the papers on the installation were all wrinkled and dirty and had writing on the ends of the wire were all cut and the connectors were not on I called your company and they made it right and gave me back my money except for my shipping and they told me just to keep it it's no good to me but thank you and I am still buying off of you

Easy to install. great how to video on the etrailer site. The video needa 1 slight improvement to make it more clear which socket (upper or lower) on the tailight housing to plug into.
etrailer was a great resource for me to establish my towable. Always available, replaced a damaged part with no issues. One of the best online large projects I've had. Went into this expecting the usual battle, but they were great.
Easy and works well
Package improperly packed. Smaller box crushed by heavier base plate box. Paper dunnage only on top, not separating cartons inside.
Fortunately no apparent damage to product. Will test when installed.
This is a teachable moment for packing department.
Instructions were great and easy to ins tall.
Would not work with 2025 for ranger

Sorry to hear that, Gary. Can I ask why it wouldn't work with your Ranger? This is a universal harness as it is completely hardwired, so it should work with basically everything.
