Video Transcript for Breaking Down the Bulldog Winch Rear Wiring Kit

Today we're going to review part number BDW20206. This is the Bulldog winch wiring kit for the rear of a standard bed truck. Now this wiring kit will provide a power connection for your Bulldog winch to the rear of your vehicle. It is designed to fit most standard bed trucks. And if you can see, it actually includes 20 feet of both two-gauge power, right over here the red power. And the black ground wires with the looped ends.

It has the crimp connector attached. Now there are two connectors. One's already attached on the two wires, and the other one is here to choose to attache with these connectors to connect to the wire on your winch. Now these are 20 feet long, these are designed to attach these ends to your battery in your vehicle, and this one's to the back of your vehicle. Now it does include this dust cover, as you can see, since it's not connected to any connector, you put a dust cover in there to help protect it from the elements. When you're ready to connect it, you just pull the dust cover out.

Then you have your terminals right there. Now what you end up doing- that also comes with these cable ties that are used to secure these longer wires on your vehicle. Now what you'll do is take your two connector terminals right here and you'll run your wires from your winch into there. So you have your positive and negative wires from your winch. And then to attach these to this, what you'll want to do, is hold this up this way, and they sort of have a hook to them. There's a little hook right there.

With the hook pointing down, what you'll want to do is match up the positive from your winch wire into the positive one, just push it in there. If you push it in far enough, it'll just click into place. Same over here. It says negative. This should be attached to the negative wire.

Make sure the hook's pointing down, push it in, and it locks into place. Pretty simple to do. Then your wires from your winch will be in here and all you have to do is- these will be from your battery in your vehicle. You just push those together, just like that, and it gives you a nice weatherproof seal. Elements can't get to your terminals, and you have a good connection for your winch. When you want to unhook it, just pull them apart, and they pop right apart, and then put your dust cover in just like that to protect your terminals from the elements. That should do it for the review of part number BDW20206, the Bulldog winch wiring kit for the rear of a standard bed truck. .

Solid kit. Heavy duty wires that ran nicely along the frame. I recommend this product.

Wire kit works great. Ran the wire from the truck battery to the rear of the truck. Made a short connection cable to interface with the winch.

Another quality Bulldog product. Came with everything needed for a clean, straightforward installation and I like that it included an extra plug and necessary components which will enable me to easily fabricate a custom connection to my trailer winch. No janky, homemade wiring for my rig.

Great product, easy to install, jumbo size zip ties, [could use a few more] I like how the dust cap snaps in, not just a piece of rubber that we all know falls out, the wire holding the dust cap could be about an inch longer to make it a little easier to remove and put on [no big deal]

by:

Looks like a quality product as has been everything I have ever ordered from you guys!!

made an easy install and works great

by:

Good quality, works as advertised.

by:

A bit pricey, but convenient to install quickly.

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch Mounted 12k Winch And Wiring Kit For A 2005 Ford F-250
Hi Steven, To start you'll need a mount for the winch that's rated for 12k like the Bulldog # BDW20011 and then you can use a 12k winch like the Bulldog Winch Trailer Winch # BDW10039. This comes with a wireless remote that uses batteries or can be plugged in to operate the winch. You wouldn't be able to run the winch off of just 12 gauge wire, you would need 2 gauge wire and Andersen connectors like the Bulldog Winch Rear Wiring Kit # BDW20206 has. I've attached a short video below...

  • Redarc BCDC Battery Charger Compatibility for 2019 F-350 Chassis Class C
The Redarc In-Vehicle BCDC Battery Charger - Dual Input - DC to DC - 12V/24V - 40 Amp # 331-BCDC1240D will work well on a Class C vehicle. The unit will charge your secondary battery and allow you to use solar panels for charging as well. It works on a wide variety of battery styles and the installation instructions will help you with installation. I do recommend using the 60-Amp MIDI Fuse Kit for Redarc In-Vehicle 40-Amp BCDC Battery Charger # 331-FK60. Redarc does recommend using...

  • How to Winch a Boat and Trailer Down a 60 Foot Hill with 35 Degree Slope
We certainly have a large selection of electric trailer winches and everything else you would need to launch and retrieve your boat but I am a bit confused on how you are trying to accomplish this. Would it be possible for you to sketch a quick diagram to further explain how you will be launching/retrieving the boat. I am also confused by how you would use a trailer hitch mounted winch plate while the boat is attached. Can you please clarify this for me so I can provide a solid recommendation....

  • How To Attach the Redarc In-Vehicle BCDC Battery Charger To the Start Battery
The Redarc In-Vehicle BCDC Battery Charger part # 331-BCDC1250D needs to be installed on the trailer, next to the service/auxiliary batteries. That said, this now means you must run a wire from the Redarc In-Vehicle BCDC Battery Charger to the start battery in your vehicle. The correct size wire to use will vary based on total length as you mentioned. I recommend you go pretty large so you don't have to worry about issues with length or voltage drop. We actually have a kit that will work...

  • Winch Mount for Terra 45 for Easier Install/Removal from Vehicle Hitch
For your application a winch mount like the Bulldog part # BDW20011 would be what I would recommend. This is compatible with the Terra 45 winch and since it has large handles on either side will make for an easier to installing and removing from your hitch as needed.

  • Shut Off Switch for Badlands 9000 Winch
Hey Marc, that is a pretty high drawing winch. I would actually verify with Badlands how thick of wire you'd need to use at 20 feet to ensure you don't over draw it. Your winch should have breakers built into it that would not require additional fuses. In meantime we do have a 400 amp rated shut off switch with the part # BDW20247 that would work for you.

  • Solution for Connecting Trailer Winch to Tow Vehicle Battery
I have a solution for you to connect the Bulldog Winch Trailer Winch # BDW10039 to your vehicle's battery, but it will not work well for you to connect the winch to the vehicle's 7-way connector. The highest gauge wire a 7-Way connector is compatible with is 10 gauge wire. A winch will use either 2 or 3 gauge wire for power. The best way to easily connect the trailer winch # BDW10039 to your vehicle's battery is to use a Winch Wiring Kit. With the winch's 12,000 pound capacity, you will...

There is a possibility of back feeding but this should not really be of a concern as the odds of it happening are slim to none. If you did choose to use a diode then you would need one rated for the components it would be powering. The highest rated diode we carry is the Roadmaster Single Park Light Diode part # RM-690 which is rated at 85 amps. There are a few things you will need to take into consideration for your winch and breakaway system. For starters, it is not advised to run both...

  • Availability of Longer Wiring Harness for Superwinch Winch 2 Go # SW1140232
Your best bet to install the Superwinch Winch 2 Go in the manner you described would be to use the Bulldog Winch Wiring Kit, part # BDW20206 along with part # DL24085. You would then remove the connectors on the # BDW20206 and replace them with those provided by part # DL24085. Once the connectors are replaced, the quick disconnect provided by the wiring kit would plug right into the connector on the winch. • Recommended Power Winch For Raising Enclosed Trailer Door Ramp
I called my contacts at our winch suppliers to see if there were any winches available that perform as you requested. I was unable to find a winch that had an auto shutoff when the winch senses a trailer door is closed since winches constantly feel resistance. They did agree it was a great idea but it would require a spring loaded trigger button to stop power to the winch which they currently don't make. I'm sure with a little engineering you could make something like # LC379388 work. Otherwise...

  • How to Power a Winch on the Trailer with the Vehicle's Battery
In order to power the Bulldog Winch Trailer Winch part # BDW15020 from the vehicle's battery I recommend using the Bulldog Winch Rear Wiring Kit part # BDW20206 which contains 20' of 2 AWG power and ground wire in addition to quick disconnects for both the trailer and vehicle side. I suppose you could ground the winch to a bare metal portion of the frame but it would be best to ground to the battery to prevent any future issues. As for the wiring, you will need to route the wire from your 4Runner battery and mount the Anderson connector at the back of your truck and then strip the wiring on your winch to connect with the extra Anderson connector that comes in the Bulldog Winch Rear Wiring Kit # BDW20206. It has loops on one end to attach to the battery and an Anderson connector on the other end to be routed to the back of your truck. However, this is only 5' long so you will need additional 2 gauge wire to complete the installation. The only kit that comes with enough wire is the Bulldog Winch Rear Wiring Kit # BDW20206 (20' long) or # BDW20207 (24' Long). I recommend running different wiring for the front and back Anderson connections for a winch on your 2017 Ford F-350 Super Duty for a few reasons; the wiring is pretty hefty so you want to have really secure connections, and then if something were to go wrong with one end of the wiring you won't have to worry about the other end being affected. Since these connect to the battery via terminals it also helps to make the installation process a little more streamlined as well. I recommend...

  • Can A Winch Battery And Trailer Breakaway Battery Both Be Charged Through 7-Way 12v Hot Lead
You would be able to charge both the trailer battery as well as the breakaway battery through your 7-way connection to the tow vehicle. This is very standard practice with most people just running a line from each battery to the 12v accessory terminal in the junction box # 3375601101.
