The Detail K2 snowplow conveniently slides into your vehicle's front-mounted trailer hitch for fast, simple mounting. Easily raise and lower the plow from the comfort of your cab with the remote-controlled electric winch. The pivoting blade makes this plow ideal for rocky or uneven surfaces because it can adjust to the terrain.

Simple, Hitch-Mounted Installation

This hitch-mounted snowplow simply slides into your vehicle's front trailer hitch receiver, making it a breeze to install. A plow that attaches to custom-fit brackets ties you down to just 1 vehicle. But this hitch-mounted plow can be used on most trucks or SUVs with a 2" x 2" front-mounted hitch. As a result, this plow can be easily switched between multiple vehicles. And because it offers a nearly universal fit, you won't have to buy a new plow when you replace your old vehicle.

To install the snowplow, just slide the shank of the plow assembly into your 2" trailer hitch receiver (sold separately). Then use a pin and clip or a hitch lock (sold separately) to secure the plow in the receiver.

The snowplow comes with flip-down caster wheels that make the installation process even easier on you. Simply flip the wheels into position and you will be able to roll the plow into position for mounting or storage. The height of the wheels can also be adjusted to match the height of your vehicle.

How to Plow

Once the plow is mounted on your vehicle, lower the blade and set it to the desired angle. To set the angle, exit the vehicle and manually position the plow straight ahead, to the left, or to the right. Angling the blade allows you to push snow off to the side where you want it without having to change the angle of your entire vehicle. This is especially useful on a driveway or a private roadway where piling the snow straight ahead would create a barrier.

The plow comes with a wireless remote that allows you to stay warm and out of the elements while still effectively controlling the plow. The remote operates on a 2.4 GHz frequency, allowing it to quickly send signals to the winch without experiencing delays. And because it's wireless, you won't have to run wires through your dash. Nor will you have to leave your window cracked open in the middle of a snow storm just so that you can run a wired remote into your cab. You will be glad to have it on those cold winter days.

To begin plowing, just drive forward. When backing up to take another pass, be sure to lift the plow with the remote, then lower it again before moving forward. When approaching a large pile of snow, be sure to decrease your speed. Slamming into a pile of snow can void the warranty on the snowplow.

When you are finished, put your vehicle in park and lower the plow. Remove the plow from your vehicle after every use.

Easy Lifting with Electric Winch

The electric winch on this plow allows you to easily lift and lower the blade using the wireless remote control. If you prefer, you can also install the included in-cab toggle switch to control the plow. The winch uses a durable strap, which is much quieter than a chain, to raise and lower the plow.

Detail K2 Features

The snowplow features skid shoes that allow you to adjust the height of your plow. This allows you to efficiently plow over surfaces that are uneven, such as gravel roads.

Blade stiffeners, or blade support brackets, reinforce the connection between the plow and your vehicle. They add 2 additional points of contact with your hitch on either side of the plow's T-frame. This prevents stress on the frame and on your vehicle, while also strengthening the performance of the plow.

Shock-absorbing springs allow the plow to dip forward in the event that you hit an obstruction. This flexibility protects you and your vehicle from impacts.

2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Decent plow for the price.

I installed this DK2 Avalanche on a 2003 GMC Yukon 1500 with a Curt front receiver hitch 31302. If you have a side mount battery, you may need battery bolt extenders (Battery Doctor #30400) to make life easier. That said, the ring terminal connectors on the winch control box will be too small. Get ones that will fit the 3/8 inch stud and 12-10 AWG wire to replace the stock ones.

Manufacturer instructions are not very helpful, but Graz's Garage has a great install video on YouTube. He installed his on a 2020 Chevy Colorado Z71. You can always count on a gearhead from Detroit. eTrailer is awesome at responding to concerns, too, and I'm glad I bought this product from them.1221734

Install went perfectly. It all bolted up just how the instructions said it would. The hardest part was navigating your tools in the tight spaces. Having the deep sockets as suggested is definitely worth it. I was also able to utilize a cordless impact wrench and it helped a ton. This will work great for our bike rack.984275

Love it. It is secure and discrete and is great for a bike rack. Be cautious of what you hang up front, bikes or other types of racks might disrupt airflow into the radiator, which was expected, just keep an eye on temperature. The bolt up was secure and relatively easy.

Installed this hitch this morning 10/06/19. Was going to wait for help as arthritis in hands makes turn wrenches a chore but was bored so went ahead anyhow. This is my second front hitch install , first one on 2018 F-150. Today’s install on 2014 duramax 2500. Today’s install was super simple , used floor jack to hold hitch up in position, you need to remove four bolts on each side , I did try air tools on the 21mm bolts but not powerful enough so used small piece of copper pipe over wrench handle for leverage to loosen, air tools were able to loosen the six 18mm bolts , took me about an hour and a half by myself. The fit of the hitch was absolutely perfect! Had to cut a small piece of the air dam at bottom of bumper, used a hacksaw, very easy. The quality and coating on the hitch is top notch. 714235

The hitch mount has worked great. Knowing it was machined for pick up trucks, I had no problem installing on a Freightliner chassis. Had to drill a few holes and fabricated a additional brace out of some angle iron for added piece of mind. I have no concerns about the sturdiness and integrity when using this mount.

very sturdy product; installation was straight forward exactly as instructions indicated. I had planned to haul motorcycle on this front mount hitch with a carrier meant for a rear receive hitch. While i have not done so yet (lighting issues i need to resolve), this receiver will do the job. I also plan on picking up a receiver mount for a winch which could come in handy. Exact fit. Took less than 30 minutes to install in my shop and used all of the factory attaching hardware. If your truck is equipped with the second lower plastic deflector, approximately 3" long, you'll need to trim a 2 3/4" square out dead center for the tube to clear. I've installed several RV accessories over the years and I want to thank you for taking the time to get the fit correct. Time is money and your product is spot on.
