Question:

I tow a 5th wheel and would like to also bring my sportbike which weighs 420 lbs. Any examples or info regarding types of cargo carried in the front of a vehicle like my pick up?

Going with a front mounted hitch and a heavy duty carrier for your sportbike is really the only option for transporting your bike while towing a 5th wheel trailer. The motorcycle carriers we currently have available are not rated for use behind a trailer, so this will be the best solution.

For your 2013 Chevy Silverado, I recommend the Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver # C31023. This hitch will provide you with a 2 inch receiver opening and has a 500 pound vertical load capacity. I have attached the written installation details that you can check out.

Then for a carrier, I recommend looking at the Ultra-Fab Dirt Bike Carrier # UF48-979033. This carrier features a 500 pound capacity, a length of 80 inches, and a track width of 5 inches. I recommend adding tie-downs like the Erickson # 06303 and at least 4 ratchet straps like # SLLS18RSR to secure everything into place.

While this may be your best option for transporting your sportbike while towing, there are some important factors and possible limitations to keep in mind. Depending on the size of your bike, the sportbike may impair your line of vision when driving and may also obstruct the air flow going to your radiator. Lastly, if you plan on driving at night, the bike may block your headlights.
