5th Wheel Tailgates for easy hitching and visibility

Hitch up without dropping the gate thanks to the v-notch that makes fifth-wheel hookups simpler. Louvered panels reduce drag and improve visibility while driving. Installation is straightforward on most trucks, but plan your backup camera solution since camera relocation kits are commonly not included, and check fitment details for your specific model to avoid latch or alignment tweaks.
Often there isn't a relocation included, and manufacturers are discontinuing relocation kits due to mechanical issues. A plug-and-play license-plate camera is an easy option. Another approach is reusing the factory camera by trimming the grommet for the 90 degree connector and press-fitting the camera. Unplug the camera before removing the stock tailgate.
Use the latch's built-in adjustment first; it has a minimal range of 1/32 inches. For more, move the truck's striker bolts to the desired position with their hardware, or have welded ones cut off and rewelded by a professional. Check for driver/passenger looseness, add support to side covers if needed, and confirm pivot bushings match; reusing an old bushing can fix a mismatch.
It's typically a straightforward swap. Drop the spare, unplug the camera, remove the factory tailgate, and hang the new one; installs have taken 15 minutes or 20 minutes, and one person can do it, though a helper can make a couple steps easier. If rubber inserts are tight, light sanding can help. Make minor side cover adjustments if needed.
Some are plastic with a light load capacity, including versions rated at 100 lbs. They're light weight compared to stock, which is great for handling but not for sitting or standing on. If the release knob or lock feels snug, a small adjustment can smooth operation. Also note the V opening may allow a hand to reach a bed latch under some covers.
It makes 5th wheel hookup easier so you don't have to drop the gate. The V shape helps reduce drag and improves visibility. It also cuts down the worry of backing a normal tailgate into the trailer.
