Package arrived damaged, but carrier was not. Easy to assemble

As soon as I purchased the product (cargo carrier for 2" hitch), I received the receipt for it via e-mail. I was also notified via email when it was shipped out. The product arrived quicker than I expected and was very well packaged. Took about 20 minutes to assemble and was very easy, despite the fact I am no handy man. I put the cargo carrier on my hitch with no problems. The carrier does not come with a hitch pin but I knew that before I purchased product so I was prepared. I love the carrier and even though I knew the dimensions, I was surprised at how much extra room it affords me. I will be getting some reflectors for it and will also purchase some tie down straps and then I will be ready to load the carrier up for camping. Thanks etrailer for great service and a great product.

We purchased this along with the trailer hitch and found it to be a great addition to our Rogue. Good quality materials. We had it on our car when we made a trip from Illinois to California, using it to carry things that wouldn't fit in the car.

Order arrived as advertised. It was missing a locking pin (those parts all came in little separate plastic bags so I imagine one slipped out during shipping) so I called and 2 were shipped immediately. Installation was incredibly easy. The instructions were ok but there is a YouTube on all these products and I am a better watcher than reader, if you know what I mean. I bought this for my wife's Rogue because she was taking her mom to Florida for a week and didn't want all the luggage inside the car. She loved it. We don't have it on now but can easily slip it on when she carries Boy Scouts to West Virginia every year for skiing at Winter Place. So the equipment goes on the carrier and the people ride unencumbered in the vehicle. It is a handy addition for us and we feel we paid a fair price for a valuable versatile asset, It has the universal Reese Hitch and I have loaned it to friends from time to time for their Boy Scout camping weekends. I advise some sort stabilizer bars if traveling on rough roads. It is not an issue but worried my wife her first time out with it. It's solid enough. The Reese Receiver has some play in it for easier on/off and that little 1/4" is where the sway originates. Not a safety issue but if you're a nervous person, it originally might worry you on rough terrain.

Great carrier for the price. It went together well. I was missing one nyloc nut but I had another one around the house so no biggie. Installed onto the hitch receiver, it's a bit more wobbly than I'd have hoped, but works just fine for what I need.

Good product, assembly instructions need to be improved

This was purchased off of the etrailer.com website as a "damaged" item at a significantly reduced price. The description on the website described the damage very well and the cargo box has no functional issues of any kind. Also, the cargo box arrived much earlier than I anticipated. Furthermore, when I noticed that the box arrived with the load securing straps missing I emailed etrailer customer support and they had Thule send me two new ones right away. Couldn't be more pleased with etrailer and this cargo box. It fits my 2014 Honda CRV with factory crossbars with just a little bit of rear hatch interference (restricts opening by maybe an inch or two, but can still fully use the rear hatch). Can't speak to durability quite yet as I've only used the cargo box a few times to transport skis and snowboard and plan to use it year-round for road trips. A really great, simple cargo box!

This was a much needed addition for a drive back to Tucson, AZ from a three month stay in Portland. ME, as we had acquired some extra things and needed more space than our 2015 Honda CRV provided. This fit on top of the rhino vortex aero roof rack I also purchased from e-trailer perfectly. The cargo box functioned as expected, and although we ultimately could have used a slightly larger cargo box, this one worked great for giving us extra space in our car for the drive home. It was easy to mount and opened easily, although it was a bit tricky to load, a step ladder would have helped. It was tough to close, we had to move some stuff around to get it to latch, but I appreciated that it would not lock unless the latches could fully engage, which made me feel like it was going to remain closed while traveling. We wasted no time putting stickers on it, and added more along the drive home, which was fun. We traveled through many different types of weather, it was late spring and was rainy in the beginning of our trip, and very hot towards the end of our trip, and the contents were in perfect condition when we arrived home. There was zero water damage inside, and nothing was damaged from being in the heat. Of course there was some reduced gas mileage and added road noise when traveling, but nothing too unbearable. Also, service and shipping from etrailer was excellent.

The roof rack is very well built & still strong & looks great after 1 full year. It is noisey above 40 mph from the wind noise but I remember that would be the case from reviews before I purchased the product. Our visiting guests like the rack because it makes it easy for them to pick out our car in the traffic when they follow us from one venue to another.

Greetings, I am giving these items 3? Because I was offered alternative products that did not fit together. Originally, I intended to purchase a roof rack cargo basket type and a spare tire holder from Yakima manufacturer that go well together, but one of them wasn’t in stock. So, after 3 weeks waiting time, I was offered alternative items via etrailer website, and I accepted them…after all, they are the experts. I got the recommended items through UPS, then I assembled them by myself. The roof rack cargo basket fit well on my car, but the spare tire holder was not compatible with the roof rack cargo basket. They couldn’t be assembled together. I submitted my claim to return the spare tire holder. Now, I have not achieved my goal to carry my spare tire. Understanding the needs and expectations of your customers is critical to maximize customer satisfaction. I am sure both products are good, but they are not compatible together, even though they were manufactured by the same company. Distributors should know better! I returned one item and I hope to be refunded.

This cargo carrier worked great. Used it to move a rototiller, 2 hour trip. No damage or deformation to the carrier despite the tiller being near the top of the weight limit. The hitch bolt held the carrier firmly in place. It doesn't come with the lights, I installed light kit Item # 52014. Just had to drill four small holes (I knew this light kit wasn't specifically designed for this carrier, just wanted something cheap). Works great on a Town Car, lots of ground clearance. I'm very happy with this product.

Super disappointed in this etrailer purchase. The product came in a large box that was fully intact and not damaged. The actual cargo basket was meticulously wrapped and appeared to be brand new as expected. The other components however, like the arm, were in boxes that were smashed, old, worn, and had multiple layers of old tape. The arm itself was scratched and banged up, even rusty in spots. Clearly it was used or had been a returned item. If I wanted a dented, gouged,and rusty Cargo Carrier I would have purchased one used, for half the price. This is not the quality I expect from etrailer.. I have purchased many racks and other items from this company and usually the quality is outstanding. This time they dropped the ball. I have since read other reviews and it is apparent that this is not an isolated incident. I'd have sent it back if it wasn't so damn heavy and awkward to lug around.

This carrier worked out great. The tilt down feature is helpful to have but I didn't really need it. However, the fold up feature was helpful when driving around, so I recommend that as a convenience. The only thing I had trouble with was the hitch bolt. I have a Thule bike rack that I've used with my truck hitch receiver and never had a problem, but this rack's hitch bolt was a real pain to get in at first. Don't be dismayed. With the rack off of the vehicle, I used some WD-40 and some lithium grease on the bolt and then used an adjustable wrench to screw it in and out a number of times. I noticed a bunch of either paint or metal shards gumming up the threads on the bolt each time I removed it. After about 5 times of screwing it in and out, wiping off the bolt with a towel, adding some more grease once in a while, it got to the point that I could screw it in and out by hand pretty easily. Problem solved. I'm really happy with this rack. It fit two big coolers of food and beer plus beach umbrellas and other stuff. It's really strong and sturdy. The biggest issue was not the weight on the rack, but whether the rear suspension on the Highlander could hold it with our other junk in the back plus passengers. :-)

I replaced an old Thule box with this. My opinion is that the locking mechanism, the clamping system, and the hinges are superior to the Thule's. Especially the locking mechanism. I used to have to wrestle the Thule box to get things lined up so that I could close and lock the box. And the bonus is that this box was less money (than an equivalent Thule) and eTrailer shipped it for free!

We have not yet taken the Skybox on a road trip so I can't talk about the box itself. But I can talk about the buying experience at etrailer. 5 stars!. There was a wealth of helpful information about the various choices for cargo carriers, including dimensions and clearance requirements, and I found the installation videos extremely valuable. Great personalized follow-up after the order was placed and after arrival. The Skybox arrived on time, well packed and in great shape.

I can't say enough about etrailer and their service. The cargo carrier arrived within 2 days of ordering. Unfortunately, one small part was missing. After a few emails back and forth, etrailer sent me a whole new cargo box which also arrived 2 days after it shipped, along with instructions on how to ship the original back at no charge. Great company to work with. Customer service goes above and beyond. Many thanks to Quinn F, Kailey I, and George J for making everything right. Will send pics after I get it installed.

This was perfect! It was exactly as described and easy to install. We used it on our vacation about 10 hours away and no noise and no problems.

Very durable basket, and fairly easy to install. It's definitely transformed the look and practicality of our little SUV.

I am very pleased with the quality for the price.Just the right size for my 2017 Chevy Trax.the "U" bolts that are used to clamp the basket to the roof cross bars were a bit long so I cut them shorter & installed rubber caps on top of each stud. This keeps the studs from damaging items in the bssket.See pictures.

Ordered this and Malone Airflow2 roof rack crossbars for a 2023 forester. Ordered the airflow cross bar so I could get the cargo box as far above the roof as possible. I was worried about losing MPG and didn't want to create a big air dam. Just finished a 6,000 mile trip and only lost two MPG. Went from 36 to 34! Wind noise was a surprise as it was almost non existent. Great product and at a much better price than the competition...

Although not used frequently this car-top carrier is solidly built, attractive and very roomy. The mounting method is very solid and easy to install and remove. There was no discernible flow noise at interstate speeds and the box is very stable and rigid. My wife was very pleased that it was virtually a perfect match to the paint color of her Audi. I’m definitely pleased with this purchase.

The Yakima OffGrid medium rack arrived yesterday at about 10:30 a.m. It was fully unpacked/assembled/installed by about 11:45. etrailer did a fine job of communicating/pricing/delivering and supporting this good product. I've been using Yakima products (and others) for biking, paddling, fishing etc. for about 45 years. This rack is a serious solution to a variety of uses of a roof rack. I will be able to use it on various vehicles and for a number of applications (sports, chores,travel etc.) It has more flexibility than most racks and I can't imagine a more durable, quality design. My particular needs, being in my "Dotage", are met by the ability to remove the cross bars and fairing for an open platform, or keep them on and custom fit to a spare tire, or bike rack, kayak rack etc. The attaching mechanisms drew my attention. I put this on the car with solo and with caution using a protective mat. It is very manageable and easy to fit. These mechanisms for tightening down on the crossbars bring the added value (and cost) to folks like me that don't want to spend a lot of time and effort installing a rooftop rack. I wanted secure, solid attachment with simplicity. The OffGrid delivers! No pain killers needed after the install! This "Medium" OffGrid is more than adequate for my initial uses. The internal and external dimensions are pretty much ideal for this 2017 Sienna. A full size spare tire will fit just right. A nice fit for a canoe as well. I admit to scouring the internet and considering dozens of products from baskets to platforms and this OffGrid showed a lot of promise. Its versatility and ruggedness competes with the best designs at about half the price of many. My thoughts included the extension bracket, but the medium OffGrid really does meet most of my expectations and needs for various applications. Now, to the matter of noise. There is wind noise. However, for me, it simply blends into the symphony of white noise that comes with highway travel (and the ringing in my ears) :)......Of all the racks, bikes, canoes,kayaks ladders, lumber, etc., etc. that I have carried on car tops, the wind sounds of this carrier are negligible. The fairing is a nice, well thought out feature that works well. So, my five star rating is for both the product and the vendor. Once again "eTrailer" has proven themselves to be one of the best sources of such products nationwide. Their product information efforts are an industry leader and they deserve credit for providing extremely helpful product reviews and explanations. That's what got me to choose them on this purchase. Those of us well into our "Dotage" appreciate learning all we can!

I love the rack and the extended length is great on my Sequoia. I am disappointed with the finish on it as the connector plates are already showing signs of rust….. I like it enough that I’m going to repaint it with something more suited to our climate…

The rack and extension arrived in sturdy boxes, well packed and no damage in shipping. The parts fit together easily. The welds left something to be desired, which is why I gave it only 4 stars. As a precaution against corrosion,I got some plasti-dip, which is a rubberized vinyl sealant and sealed all the places where moisture could get into the various tubes of the rack. I was satisfied with the quality of the powder coating on all the parts. The mounting system to the roof rack is interesting and appears well-designed. The assembly and installation instructions are OK, but could have been written better. For example, there is an extra tightening knob for the U-bolts, but no description if it is there as a spare.

This was a great experience from start to finish. etrailer: After placing the order, I called regarding shipping and quickly got the answer to my question. The box shipped by ground freight, and arrived almost a week before the original scheduled delivery date. The Rhino arrived perfect with protective wrap, and all the required parts. Rhino Rack: This thing is awesome. Unless you jump up into the $1000+ price point, your rooftop carrier options are limited. My two requirements were to fit my skis (181 & 183 cm) and to allow my tailgate to open fully. The Rhino delivered! Bonus that both baby strollers fit as well (Instep baby trailer and Vista Uppababy). Only a week in, but so far the Rhino box and MasterFit clamps seem solid. The ratchet/locking mechanism on the clamps is just ok, you don't have to twist too hard to over power the lock or feel like you are stripping something internally. The hinges are beefy, but don't take up a ton of storage space. It opens from both sides, and you can't remove the key unless it's locked, which is nice for those of us that don't enjoy picking up our stuff on the highway. Also, if you're like me and spent way too much time on mr-box.com, you'll be pleased to know that this thing doesn't look lame. It's pretty sleek, somewhat low profile, with a touch of Euro. It's not too wide, even on the narrow rails of the A4 Allroad there's extra bar space. I could probably squeeze an upright kayak rack, small ski pinchers, or for the ten of us in the world that own RoadShowers...the RoadShower 4 fits no problem. I definitely recommend a Rhino from etrailer.
