Great cargo rack. Easy assembly! Will work excellent for transporting our Honda
EU 3000 inverter

Excellent! No issues

Extremely satisfied with the DrawTite front hitch and Curt Cargo carrier. Everything fit perfect and an easy install. Thanks.

This cargo carrier has made 2 - 1,500 mile trips behind my Outback, loaded to the gills (tools, coolers, gas cans, boxes, etc.) and has performed very well. I used a bolt-on hitch stabilizer and a vinyl cargo cover. The only reason I haven't given it 5 stars is because it can bottom out on sharp dips, which is a bit of a design issue. Even if the carrier was raised 2" behind the hitch, it would help prevent bottoming out. Otherwise, this unit represents an excellent value and should perform well for years to come.

We use the carrier to carry bikes on the back of our truck with a pop up truck camper. So if you have a pop-up, you know space is limited, especially for toys.

THE GOOD: We attached bike racks with the Stromberg Carlson CC-125 Cargo Caddy Bike Rack Adapter, strap the bikes through the grates in the carrier, and can carry 2 bikes securely. This is a cheap and easy setup, esp compared with what is on the market like the Thule or Yakima setups. We had to make sure our tires fit within the carrier frame as the edge of the frame is not flat. A mtn bike and a Townie bike both fit fine. After we arrive at our destination and remove the bikes, we used the carrier as the step down from the camper.

THE EH: The carrier wobbled a wee bit but we stabilized it by running straps from the carrier to the truck, and now it's solid.

THE NOT SO GOOD: I have nothing bad to say! What a surprise for me :) The carrier arrived quickly, there were no issues with parts missing or the unit dented in any way. It was packaged well, and we were able to assemble and use it quickly.

Great company to buy from. And they sell solid and well-built parts. Thank you, etrailer! You never disappoint.

Meets all expectations. simple to put together. good quality. highly recommended this unit

Was quite easy to assemble, instructions are decent. When in the hitch receiver it has some room so is a bit wobbly, but I remedied that with some thin plastic inserted on a couple of sides so now it doesn't wobble much at all. One other modification I made is that I made two washers out of thinner plastic and placed them on the bolt at the folding point, one on each side between the metal, so now it doesn't scratch the paint when you fold the tray and it is snug enough to where the tray will also not wobble back and forth on that bolt. Haven't put any cargo on it yet, but it holds 190lbs of my weight(in the center) rocking up and down...

Soon after purchase weve taken a camping road trip and this cargo tray proved to be an excellent purchase. We put a lot of gear in a couple of big plastic boxes that fit just right on the tray to fill it up, strapped the boxes, then put some more stuff on top and strapped that too. Could barely feel that the tray was on the car... doesnt add anything to the drag really, folds up nicely when not needed... great accessory...

Took about 3/4 of an hour to put this together today...very good instructions and everything fit just perfect...had to put it together on the tailgate of my truck because I had too much "stuff" in my garage or it might have only taken 1/2 hour...I do like the tracking link, it was great...and the followup emails from George were all about customer service, thank you...I WILL buy from etrailer again...United Airlines could probably take some lessons from this company, at least from the customer service aspect...

4/17/2018 works just perfect for what Im using it for...and my contact with etrailer was excellent also...thank you...and like Arnold says Ill beback :-

Product arrived and was exactly as I expected. I actually ordered 2 because I wanted a single carrier 89 inches wide to mount on the rear bumper of my motor home. I did the modifications to the carriers (making 3 sections with two splices) to get the length needed. I made some additional parts to secure the carrier to the bumper (mostly modifications of the existing parts). I am having the new parts powder coated. When I get the finished product mounted on my RV, I will send a picture.

James L.

Now after a year the carrier has been working perfectly. I carry two generators and a satellite dish on the carrier. It has more carrying capacity because it has four mounts to the RV bumper. It has traveled over 6000 miles.

I have not had the chance to load the basket down yet, but I was able to easily follow the assembly instructions and put the thing together. It fits in the hitch receiver as expected and stays attached to my Subaru Outback when folded up! The product also feels well made. Plus I am happy I went with this 'lower profile' option versus some of the 'bulkier' options. The vertical sidewalls end up rising higher than it looks in the photos and the hook holes are plenty large enough for whatever straps you plan to use (I was a little concerned they would be too tiny).

Only concern I have is that the basket does wobble quite a bit when folded up and backing up (which I can view in the backup camera). I know there will always be some amount of 'play' with the tow receiver and basket shank clearances, but I also have never had to tow anything before so the wobbling took me by surprise. But I have seen tests of other baskets online and it looks like they all wobble too, so I am not too worried.

Used this carrier several times since buying it one year ago. It has held up very well. This dark color against my dark vehicle I highly recommend buying reflectors to place on the back, sides, and bottom so it is clearly visible and people are less likely to run into the back of it which has almost happened to me several times.

This review is really more for etrailer rather than the carrier. Problems happen sometimes - especially with online ordering - so it really comes down to how that problem is handled in order to accurately gauge customer service. We had an issue from the manufacturer and etrailer let me know right away and then fixed it. They are 5 star in my book!

I needed this in a hurry for a trip, etrailer was awesome, I got my product way before i expected ,They are very helpful, friendly and professional, I will be using etrailer for any cargo or trailer needs i have in the future. TY Jeff

I truly love it. I have it in my van now during deer season. I also carry my cart on it as its easier to load and unload my myself. I could not be more happy with cargo carrier. I bought one that flips up when i'm not using it and traveling. I brag about it everywhere i go.
Other hunters ask me how i like it and tell them it's great. PERFECT. Thank you. Thank you for your follow-up. Shows me that you care about your product and your customer. BIG THUMBS UP.

Only been used to transport fuel cans to the filling station and back home. Without it it would be hard to mow my grass. I'm not hauling gas cans inside the vehicle.

I use it for everything. I am constantly commenting on how great it is. I bought this a year ago. I use it at least one weekend every month.

The cargo carrier was delivered early. Easy to assemble and worked great for my camping trip. It freed up space for my dogs in the SUV. Quality material for a fair price.

got the cargo carrier friday evening 10-20-17 and put it together on saturday and put it on the jeep for hunting. went together real easy and really happy with it. good service from you. dont know how to post a picture.

Great cargo rack, is solid and doesn't wobble much at all. I can stand and jump on it and it feels solid below my feet.

Very well made carrier, exactly as promised. Took two of us to assemble, but we had no problems.
Excellent service, quick delivery.

Very fast shipping and easy to put together. This cargo carrier feels solid, so I know it will last a long time.

This rack was simple to assemble with basic hand tools and seems to be very well constructed. I am pleased with the fit and the finish.

Cargo Carrier arrived before date expected and was very happy with the quality of the product.

Very easy to put together with only a few tools. I have now taken my lawn mower in to be serviced for spring. I like the way it folds up not to extend my vehicle's length. Just what I was looking for. Chuck

Good price, easy to put together, good quality and it was delivered on time. Very happy with the product. Will buy from again.

Finding and ordering the right product was quite simple. Shipping to delivery was quite fast at under 48 hours.

  • Are Cargo Carriers Like C18109 DOT Certified?
Glad to hear you've enjoyed your Curt Cargo Carrier # C18109! The Department of Transportation does not have any specifications or tests for testing cargo carriers so you're cargo carrier and the rest on the market do not have any sort of DOT certification as there isn't one. The only tests they get are load related to determine the load capacity of the cargo carrier.

  • Will Curt Hitch Mount Cargo Carrier # C180109 Clear the Bumper on a 2015 Honda Pilot
On the Curt cargo carrier # C18109 when it is down for use it measures11-1/4 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the nearest part of the carrier. When folded up that same measurement is 5 inches. To determine if this is enough clearance for your 2015 Honda Pilot (which I am almost certain it is) you can measure from the center of the hitch pin hole on your hitch straight back to the end of the rear bumper. If that distance is less than 5 inches it will fit when folded or down....

The Curt Aluminum Cargo Carrier # C18100 features aluminum construction throughout, including the 2-inch tubular shank portion that fits into your hitch receiver. This material is responsible for the substantial reduction in the carrier's weight as compared to a similar Curt carrier made of steel. Thank you for the measurements, they helped a great deal. With those measurements you need a carrier that is going to be less than 5-3/4", which would be the Curt # C18109. This is a steel carrier that is 60-1/4" long x 19-5/8" wide and has sides that are only 2-3/4" high. The short sides and the fact that the shank does not rise means it will allow you to open the rear door. • Can a Cargo Carrier Rated for 500 lbs. Carry a 300 lb. Safe
When using a cargo carrier like the 19x59 Curt Cargo Carrier # C18109 which has a 500 lb. capacity you will most likely be fine to carry a 300 lb. safe, but it will come down to how wide the base of the safe is. From a shear weight standpoint, it would be ok. The problem comes from the concentration of the weight. When a cargo carrier is rated for 500 lbs. that is with the weight evenly dispersed across the carrier. If your safe has a wider base then you would be fine, however if your...

The Curt model is also larger at 19 x 60 inches compared to 20 x 48 inches for # 6502. Both only fit 2 inch trailer hitches, both can fold up, and both have a 500 pound capacity. • Hitch Cargo Carrier Recommendation for a 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
I believe your best option is going to be the part # C18109. This carrier does not have a rise built into the shank of the carrier so your rear door should open over it without a problem. The distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the nearest portion of the carrier platform is 11-1/4 inches, so there would be a tiny portion of the carrier that would be covered by the rear spare. Most likely it would only be about an inch.
