Gooseneck Hitch Installation - 2009 GMC Sierra

Speaker 1: Today on our 2009 GMC Sierra we're going to be installing B&W's custom underbed installation kit for companion 5th wheel trailer hitches, part number BWGNRK1067. This underbed goose neck hitch is going allow you to haul a goose neck trailer behind your truck. What's great about a goose neck trailer is that it places all the weight on top of your rear axle, so that'll allow you haul heavier loads more stable than a regular hitch mounted at the rear. You've got your safety chains located on each side. It's custom fit to match your truck, so everything mounts right in place. The ball can be repositioned upside down, and this will give you full bed access. To make it easy to insert or remove your hitch ball you can pull the handle.

Best 2009 GMC Sierra Gooseneck Options

Today on our 2009 GMC Sierra we'll be looking at our best gooseneck hitch options. Here we have three gooseneck hitch options here for you today. On the top we have the B&W Turnoverball Gooseneck Hitch, part number BWGNRK1057. In the middle, we have the Curt Double Lock, Flip and Store Gooseneck Hitch, part C615-632. On the bottom, we have the Draw-Tite Hide-A-Goose, part number 9465-54. The biggest differences that we found between our hitches here today is that our B&W hitch here at the top and our Draw-Tite hitch here on the bottom both allow the use of a fifth-wheel adapter, so you can tow not only a gooseneck but a fifth-wheel trailer as well. Now, even though our Draw-Tite hitch here can tow a fifth-wheel trailer with an adapter with this round hole, our B&W hitch with its square hole here is slightly more versatile for using an adapter. Now, the reason square is better for a fifth-wheel adapter is because it'll help resist a twisting action, and you don't have to worry about your fifth-wheel head twisting in the bed of your truck. Now, one thing that our Curt hitch differs from the other two is the fact that our ball is secured with a two-pin mechanism.

Gooseneck Trailer Hitch Installation - 2009 GMC Sierra

Today on our 2009 GMC Sierra we'll be having a look at and installing the Draw-Tite Hide-A-Goose under-bed gooseneck trailer hitch with installation kit, part number 9465-54. All right, here's what our gooseneck looks like installed. As you can see, our gooseneck design gives us clean access of our truck bed here. There's nothing sticking up above it at all besides our gooseneck ball and our safety chain loops, which are spring-loaded. Our gooseneck system that we have installed with its 2 5/16" ball has a 7,500 pound vertical load limit, that's the amount pushing down. And then a 30,000 pound max gross trailer weight rating, which is the amount that we can pull. When we're not hooked up to our trailer, we can actually store our ball upside down in the gooseneck head so it's readily available and doesn't take up any of our truck bed space so we can still store stuff in our truck bed and not lose any of that valuable space.
