The EcoHitch part # 306-X7284 is a fit for the 2014 Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen TDI. This particular EcoHitch is not designed with a removable hitch receiver. The hitch receiver is built into the hitch but it is still a concealed cross tube design. The only thing that is visible on the TDI is the 2 inch hitch receiver opening tube once installed. There is some fascia trimming required for the hitch receiver opening to fit through. The weight capacity of the hitch is 300 lbs of tongue weight... view full answer...
We do indeed offer a hitch fit for the 2012 VW Jetta Sportwagen TDI Diesel.
You'll want to go with the EcoHitch # 306-X7284. The hitch mounts behind the bumper cover, which conceals the entire hitch except for the receiver tube and the safety chain loops. view full answer...

At this time Class I trailer hitches are the only options available for the 2012 Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen. Most likely, because of the frame on the Jetta, there will not be a Class II option made available for this vehicle.
The only cargo carriers we have available for Class I hitches at this time are the open style carriers, see link.
I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch, # C11474, to carry a cargo carrier behind your 2012 Jetta Sportwagen.

There's only one Class I hitch receiver confirmed to fit your 2013 Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen TDI- the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - 2" # 306-X7284, and while it has the hidden crosstube, it has the same 2,000 lb towing capacity as the Curt # C11474.
You would also need a ballmount and hitch balls, for those I recommend the etrailer 2-3/4" Rise or 4" Drop Ball Mount Kit - 7,500 lbs # EBMK4. To power your trailer lights, I recommend the 4-Pole Flat, Hardwire Kit... view full answer...

The Malone AirFlow2 Roof Rack, part # MPG215, cannot be cut down.
However, these are a confirmed fit for your 2014 Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen. It's designed to fit around raised rails, so the 50" isn't what fits on the rails. It's actually less than that.
As long as the full 50" doesn't extend past your side mirrors (which it shouldn't) then this will be a good fit for you.
However, if you'd prefer a rack that doesn't extend past the rails, you can use the Rhino-Rack Vortex StealthBar... view full answer...

I have exactly what you're looking for; you can use the Replacement Key for Thule Racks # THKEYN010 to unlock your VW roof rack made by Thule with a lock core with the number 010 stamped on the core. You can really ignore the N that sometimes goes in front of the Thule lock core numbers and focus on the 3 numbers to determine which keys and lock cores will match your existing setup.
If you need to change out the lock cores, you can use the Thule One-Key System Lock Cylinders # TH450200... view full answer...
From some research I did online it looks like the Salsa TimberJack you referenced in your question has a 15mm thru-axle.
To install your bike on the Kuat Trio Roof Bike Rack # TR02 you will need to remove the 9mm quick release skewer and place your bike's existing thru-axle skewer through the chrome cylinder on the Kuat Trio # TR02. Now place your bike on the rack, hand tighten the nut, and clamp the quick release lever down.
I attached the review video for the Kuat Trio Roof Bike Rack... view full answer...

We have some other similar roof rack options to fit your 2012 Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen but the Yakima RailBar Crossbars # Y00447-2 won't fit your vehicle.
Instead I recommend going with the Rhino-Rack Vortex StealthBar # JA7973 which has a similar look and quality plus it has been confirmed to fit the raised rails on your vehicle. view full answer...

The EcoHitch # 306-X7284 has an installed height of 12 inches to the top of the receiver. With this being a 2 inch receiver, the bottom of the receiver would be slightly under 10 inches. The lip around the outside of the receiver opening is roughly a 1/2 inch, so you would be looking at 9 1/2 inches for total ground clearance. view full answer...
There is a hitch which is a fit for both the 2013 and 2009 Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen; the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver # 306-X7284 which has a 2" receiver opening. It will fit TDI models of the Jetta from either year and does not require the use of stabilization straps to secure accessories like bike racks and cargo carriers the way a Curt hitch does.

Yes, the Bearing Buddy Spindle Grease Seal # BB60005 can be used without a Bearing Buddy bearing protector.
However, it depends what's causing the issue as to whether or not this will solve your problem. I would inspect your spindle and make sure it's smooth and not damaged at all. It's possible the seal failure you're getting is from the seals not being on a good surface to start out with. view full answer...
