Question:

Im assuming these could be cut down a bit? My 2014 Sportwagen is a bit small for a 50inch wide bar.

The Malone AirFlow2 Roof Rack, part # MPG215, cannot be cut down.

However, these are a confirmed fit for your 2014 Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen. It's designed to fit around raised rails, so the 50" isn't what fits on the rails. It's actually less than that.

As long as the full 50" doesn't extend past your side mirrors (which it shouldn't) then this will be a good fit for you.

However, if you'd prefer a rack that doesn't extend past the rails, you can use the Rhino-Rack Vortex StealthBar Roof Rack, part # JA7973. These will remain solely between the rails without any extension, providing a sleeker look. I've linked to a video review of this below.

I recommend the AirFlow2 because the more space the better. Of course, if you prefer a sleeker look, then go for the Vortex StealthBar.
