How To Use a 2 Inch Bike Rack On a 2014 Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen TDI

I am looking for a hitch to mount to my 2014 Volkswagen jetta sportwagen tdi in order to use my hitch mounted bike rack. It mounts to a 2inch reciever. Would this hitch work with an adapter?

For starters, the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver w/ Euro Drawbar part # C114122 is not a fit for your 2014 Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen TDI. The comparable option we have is Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 24866. However, you cannot use a class I 1-1/4" trailer hitch with a 1-1/4" to 2" adapter like part # MT70032 because all of the adapters require a class II hitch with a 1-1/4" opening. If you were to use the two together the weight capacity of your trailer hitch will be reduced by 50%.

Therefore, the best option for you would be to use the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 306-X7284 which will not require any adapters and you won't have a reduced weight capacity. The most cost effective option would be to just use a bike rack with a 1-1/4" shank rated for use with a class I hitch like the Malone RunWay 2-Bike Platform Rack part # MPG2149.
