The Draw-Tite hitch # DT53KV for your 2023 Toyota Prius will require a panel to be removed for the install, but it does get reinstalled when you are done. If necessary, you may need to trim that underbody panel to fit around the hitch. We haven't done an install with one of these yet, so I can't say if that will or will not be required.

Hey Kris! A Class I hitch like the Curt # C67RJ is the only option for your Prius. There are no Class II options available, and no way to really modify this to make it one. It is possible to gain clearance with the use of an adapter like the # e93YR but you're going to reduce your tongue weight capacity by 50% down to 100 lbs and add in extra movement. If you decide to use an adapter I would also add an anti-rattle # RM-061-125.

For a Class I hitch like yours we do not recommend the use of hitch adapters since they cut the capacity of the hitch they are installed on by 50 percent and add quite a bit of movement. Instead we'd recommend a bike rack like the Thule Camber # TH9058 that has a longer shank that will fit underneath the bumper and not cause any fit issues. We do have a replacement hardware kit part # RHK that you can order to get the replacement hardware for your EcoHitch. There is a box on the product page where you can put the hitch number so that way they know exactly what hardware they'll need to send you. I recommend putting in the EcoHitch part number # X7404, which is different than our etrailer part number # EH53VR but is the same hitch. Speed is a huge issue with trailer tires actually. Unless otherwise noted trailer tires are rated as 65 miles per hour as their max speed. Exceeding the speed rating will cause the tire to heat up and fail easier. We do have a couple brands that have higher speed ratings. The Taskmaster radials like the part # C22515D which is an ST225/75R15 like you mentioned has a speed rating of 81 mph.
