We also don't have the StageTwo or the light kit in our local warehouse right now for me to try and measure either of them and find the spacing. Hello Curtis, thanks for reaching out. Either way will be sufficient for mounting the Demco Hydraulic Brake Actuator # DM72VR. It just depends how the tongue is configured. If the actuator you are replacing uses grade 5 bolts and nuts that it totally fine to bolt it on that way. Just be careful not to over tighten. See the picture I attached.

The issue your are experiencing is likely similar to the problems that require adapter # C57003. The LED lights do not draw enough power for the tow package to recognize that they are there. The brake magnets draw more power which is why the controller recognizes that a trailer is connected. The load resistors in the adapter will simulate increased load on the system allowing the LED trailer lights to work.

I looked around and it looks like at this moment Tesla is the only one who has a hitch for that vehicle on the market and it looks like it's just going to be the typical factory hitch. I have added a couple photos showing the Draw-Tite hitch on a Tesla Model X, one that is during the install and the other the completed install. So the body of the hitch is indeed hidden behind the bumper fully, but the receiver will still show and will not be hidden on your 2016 Tesla Model X. Like you said the use of a weight distribution system depends on the vehicle specifications. I checked with Tesla and they do not recommend the use of one due to the unibody construction. Weight distribution systems transfer a portion of the weight of the trailer to the vehicle. A bumpy road will transfer a lot of stress into the unibody of the Model X. The reason that's considered detrimental is that the entire body will bend and twist repeatedly, and could eventually fail.

I checked with our vendors and as of 04/27 the only hitch available for the 2023 Tesla Model X is the Draw-Tite item # 76143. This hitch is custom fit and bolts to your Tesla with included hardware. It does not have a removable receiver so you wouldn't need to use the magnetic accessory. However, there will still need to be a hole cut in the removable panel for the 2" receiver.
