An E5 error code simply means there's a communication error between the relay box # PXXACRG12RB and the thermostat. If you're hooking it directly to the relay box without any extra wire and it's wired correctly and you're still getting the E5 error then either the relay box or thermostat is defective and needs to be replaced.

Our manufacturing partners don't carry a front hitch specifically for the 1993 Itasca Sunrise, so instead you will need to have something fabricated to fit your motorhome. I'd recommend grabbing a Gen-Y Weld-On 2" Receiver Tube # 325-GH-003, taking it and your motorhome to a welder or fabricator, and you'll be good to go! If the metal cover is tied into the fabric of your old awning then this will not work. I reached out to my contact at Lippert and the issue you are describing on the Kwikee Steps on your 2013 Itasca Meridian 34B is a tell tale sign of a bad controller.
The cause is the controller is not detecting the amp draw of the motor when the steps are fully opened/closed and is causing the motor to keep running after the step is fully opened/closed.
