If it was originally the 3-bike version # KU24FR you will remove the cradle and hook arm but the arms they attach to will remain extended out as they are now. I wasn't sure which hitch you were looking at, but I recommend the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Matte Black Finish - Class III - 2" # e62AR. The matte black finish helps hide it better than glossy options, which I think looks more stock-ish.
