Updated 08/27/2024 | Published 08/20/2024

Question:

Hello, I would like some assistance in selecting the proper wire harness for dolly towing a 2018 Cadillac XT5 behind my Prevost Coach. The coach is equiped with both a 7 wire tow harness and a Roadmaster Brite-lite 4 wire module. Thank you

Hey Mike, thanks for reaching out!

I have 2 different options for you to look at, and it really just depends on what style you're looking for:

The Heavy Duty Magnetic Tow Lights # TL21RK are wired and will work with your 7-Way if you use the Pollak Adapter # PK12716.

For a wireless option we have the Custer Wireless LED Tow Bar Light # LIW-LDTL-7B which plugs in without the adapter and obviously doesn't require you to run wiring along your vehicle and make sure it isn't blowing around while you're heading down the road.

I'm attaching video overviews for both so you can see how they would work!

Thanks Jon. What harness would you recommend to plug into the vehicles brake, turn, marker and backup lights? Mike

@Mike I recommend using the Roadmaster 4-Diode Universal Wiring Kit # RM-154 and Pollak Adapter # PK12716 if you're wanting to utilize the lights on your Cadillac too. Instead of trying the 4-Way into the connector on the back of your motorhome though, you'll want to splice this into the wiring harness on your tow dolly so that both the tow dolly and your vehicle will have working lights. This doesn't have the reverse light function, but that isn't needed for dolly towing (or even flat towing) because you aren't supposed to back up in either case.
