Video Transcript for Hopkins Wiring - Wiring Adapters - HM47570 Review

Today we are going to review part number HM47570. This is the Hopkins Endurance Multi-Tow Trailer Connector Adaptor. This trailer adaptor will change your vehicle 7-blade connector on your vehicle to either a 6-way connector or the 4 and 5-way flat connectors. This is built with this oversize lead hinge, which is built the last and it also allows the lids to open, as you can see, 180 degrees to help in simple connections. It does have internal seals for ultimate weatherproofing. It does come with this dielectric grease packet, so when you do and put your or plug your plugs in you can put the dielectric grease on that will help the connection and keep any corrosion from forming around your connectors. This part does come with a 3-year warranty. The main feature about this which is really nice is it comes with this quick-change plug right here, and what that will allow you to do is when you go to do a 7-way connector if you are going to go from 6 or 7-way to a 6-way, on a 6-way connector there is actually two ways that a 6-way can be wired and basically it has to do with that center-pin.

The center-pin can be wired either for the as a 12 volt hat design or it can be wired for the trailer brake connection. What you want to make sure is that when you plug your 6-way in that center-pin will match whats on your trailer.Otherwise, if its wired, if that center-pin is wired for a straight 12 volt power, if you go to plug it in your trailer and it needs it for trailer brakes it will lock the brakes on your trailer. The easy solution to that with this adaptor, which is nice, is youll just take this quick-change plug, and if you just pull up on it, and you can see there is two connectors and two wires, if you just rotate it 180 degrees plug it back in, just like that, that has changed your center pole connector. In other words, it will change it from the 12 volt power to the trailer brake power or vice versa, whichever way you needed it.So there is no rewiring necessary. It used to be when you did an adaptor you would have to rewire that center-pin to whatever you had on your vehicle or on your trailer, now with this quick-change plug it makes it very simple changing that center pinges by turning it and plugging it back in, that will reverse what that center-pin would do. This does come with a 3-year warranty and that should do it for the review on part number HM47570, the Hopkins Endurance Multi-Tow Trailer Connector Adaptor .

It's an excellent product, them other cheap 7 to 6 way don't let the trailer brakes work with out changing wires. This one quick plug to change from power brakes to aux. Plus it has the 5 way and 4 way. It's got them all in one. Excellent product. 267660

I needed an adapter for my electrical towing harness so the that I could use a 5-Way connector on my 7-WAY plug. On line, I found and ordered Item No. HM47570 "HOPKINS ENDURANCE MULTI-TOW CONNECTOR ADAPTER - 7-WAY to 6-WAY, 5-WAY or 4-WAY." When I received the product, I was really stoked, it was exactly what I needed and what I had been looking for! I tried it on for "size" as you might say and it's going to work like a charm. I will send some photos later when I'm done with the installation! No time right now. . this coming weekend! 71688

This was everything I needed it to be. I worked great, and the interchangeable center prong allows me to use it on two different trailers. I'll buy from these guys again. 572719

As advertised. Well made too. The spring for the cover/seal is robust and I don't expect it to weaken. The adapter works perfectly with my Pollack 7 pin outlet and captures on the retaining clip as both are desiged, so the adapter is securely in place down the road. The ability to reverse polarity on the 6 pin trailer brake set up is really nice, but I suggest to have a pair of needle nose pliers handy to stuff the wires back in the housing so you can get the two terminal plug re-inserted. A bit to fiddle with, but once you set it up for your own trailer, you never would mess with it again. Good product. You wont be disappointed. 130037

Ive owned this little unit for about a year now and havent had a chance to use it very much. However, when I tow my boat or anything else, I dont have to worry about not being able to connect it. Its a well built dependable unit and I would recommend it to anyone that tows a lot.

This thing is a beauty, if you have a 7 pole trailer wiring kit, this is a must have. You will never need another set of adapters because you're covered from 4 pole to 6 pole with the adapter and 7 pole when you remove it. Can't go wrong, great quality and the reverse mode for hot circuit/trailer brakes is a great touch. 10/10 364610

My '92 GMC Sierra had a 6-pin trailer harness connector and I'm going to be pulling a pop-up camper in a few weeks that has a 7-pin connector. I originally ordered a 47435 6-Pole to 7-Pole Trailer Wiring Adapter. After thinking about it for a day I changed my mind and ordered a HM48470 Hopkins Endurance Multi-tow 7-way, 5 & 4-wire Flat Connector to mount in the bumper and a HM47570 Hopkins Endurance Multi-tow Connect Adapter - 7-way To 6-way, 5-way and 4-way. The HM48470 will allow me to pull the pop-up as well as giving me the 4-wire flat connector that I need for my boat trailer. I bought the HM47570 adapter just to cover all the trailer wiring needs I might run into. I really like the fact that the 47570 adapter has the quick change plug to cover both wiring arrangements for 6-pin trailer connectors. I placed the original order Saturday evening and the second order Sunday afternoon. Monday morning, I called etrailer.com to try to cancel the first order and was told that both orders were already boxed and on the way the shipper. I had no idea that they had people there to pull and box orders on the weekend. I asked about returning the first order when it arrived and was told by Helen M that it would be no problem at all. I have been extremely pleased with my purchase experience with etrailer.com. Everyone I spoke with there was very knowledgeable and I will not hesitate to go directly to them for my trailer and towing needs in the future. 543065

This has to be the coolest adapter I have ever owned. I needed to tow a boat with surge brakes and needed power from the reverse lights to prevent the surge brake from locking up the trailer while backing. I was not sure this would work but thought I would give it a try. It is a little larger than expected and felt like it sagged down a little when plugged into the truck. However, the spring door caught the top of the adapter with no problem. I plugged my 5 flat plug on the trailer and and put it in reverse. worked like a charm. I checked with a multi meter and indeed 12v were sent to the 5th plug on my 5 flat when in reverse. I can now pull three trailers I own with this one adapter. I have a 5 flat, 4 flat and 6 round plug on each of the three trailers. If a purchase a trailer with electric brake, you can pull the plug, turn it 90 degrees and plug it back in. Watch the video etrailer produced describing this outstanding adapter. I will be ordering a second as a backup. Oh....just towed a trailer 250 miles and the adapter was still secure in the truck ever though it sagged a little. 705330

This trailer connection works as advertised. The best thing is the reversible switch apparatus which allows one to go from one type of connection, i.e. 12-volt, to a pole for brakes. It's nifty. 698532

This trailer plug adapter is a "must have" item if you have a truck set up for Hot Shot or if you pull several different types of trailers. I use this adapter at least 3 times a week (plus I have 7 round pin plug for hauling agriculture trailers). I haven't had to use the "trailer break reversal" wire yet, but this is the main reason to purchase this adapter. This is a well built, Great product, well worth the money. 650426

  • Integrated Brake Controller, Hydraulic Brakes and Trailer Wiring for Boat Trailer
If your boat trailer has a mechanical surge actuator coupler like # 8605001 then no trailer brake controller is required. The inertia of the trailer moving forward provides the compression to push hydraulic fluid to the brakes. If on the other hand you have an EOH system, electric-over-hydraulic, such as with an actuator like # HBA-12 for drum brakes or # HBA16 for disc brakes, then you DO still need a trailer brake controller to deliver the electrical signals to the actuator, which...

Unfortunately I can't see the photo as it didn't come through, but your description helps me understand what you need. I recommend the Hopkins Endurance Multi-Tow Trailer Connector Adapter - 7-Way to 6-Way, 5-Way or 4-Way # HM47570 which has a quick change plug to simply swap those connections as needed. For just a 4-Way harness I recommend the Tekonsha T-One # 118760. This will also plug into factory ports and includes the fuses if needed. If you think you might be towing multiple trailers...

  • Adding a 7 and 4-Way Trailer Connector to a 1997 Ford F-350 Diesel Dually
Because there is no replacement multi-tow trailer connector that fits a 1997 Ford F-350, you would either need to hardwire one in or use an adapter. The easiest solution is to use an adapter, # HM47570. It plugs into the 7-Way and will allow you to plug in a 6-Way, 4- Way or 5-Way. If you wanted to hardwire in a multi-tow 7 and 4-Way, you can use the Pollak 7- and 4-Pole Trailer Connector, # HM40975. It would have to be mounted below the bumper or in a convenient location of your choosing...

  • Adapter for 4-Way Flat Vehicle Connector to 6-Way Round Pin Trailer Connector
If you only need the basic lighting functions provided by the 4-Way (left/right turn, brake, and running lights) all you will need to do is plug the 4-Way end of the Adapter 4 pole top 6 pole, # 30637, into your vehicle 4-Way. The trailer 6-Way will then plug into the 6-Way receptacle on the adapter. You will also need to ground the white wire on the adapter to the vehicle frame at a clean and corrosion free metal surface. The remaining wires (blue for electric brakes and black for...

  • Trailer Wiring Adapters to Join Allegro RV to Trailer
We offer wiring adapters for many types of connectors used on RVs and all can be seen on the linked page. First, select the type of connector on the back of the Allegro. You can click on the filters on the page under the heading Vehicle End Plug. Then similarly select the type of connector you need on the trailer end. For instance, if you need an adapter to join a 7-way blade on the Allegro to a 6-way round pin on the trailer then you would use part # HM47570, # HM47053 or one of the...

  • Brake Controller and Trailer Wiring Installation on 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee
To install a brake contorller on your 1997 Grand Cherokee, you'd first need to install a 4-pole connector, using the Tow Ready # 118349. How you'd proceed next will depend on the connector use on the trailer you'll want to pull. I'd recommend using a 7-way because it's the most common. You can always use an adapter like part # HM47570 to convert it to anything else you'd need. To actuate the electric brakes on the trailer, you'd need a brake controller. I'd recommend going with a...
