Excellent converter from round to 7 hole. Only used once so far and it worked great. I'm keeping this as a backup for all 3 trailers. 849647

My stock plug has a pretty tight cover that bends the wires on my flat plug for my utility trailer a bit too much for my comfort and this one just flips up and snaps closed, so no tension when it is open. Works very well for my wiring and I have many options for plugs than I had to begin with. I use this all the time and it is great! 794217

This has to be the coolest adapter I have ever owned. I needed to tow a boat with surge brakes and needed power from the reverse lights to prevent the surge brake from locking up the trailer while backing. I was not sure this would work but thought I would give it a try. It is a little larger than expected and felt like it sagged down a little when plugged into the truck. However, the spring door caught the top of the adapter with no problem. I plugged my 5 flat plug on the trailer and and put it in reverse. worked like a charm. I checked with a multi meter and indeed 12v were sent to the 5th plug on my 5 flat when in reverse. I can now pull three trailers I own with this one adapter. I have a 5 flat, 4 flat and 6 round plug on each of the three trailers. If a purchase a trailer with electric brake, you can pull the plug, turn it 90 degrees and plug it back in. Watch the video etrailer produced describing this outstanding adapter. I will be ordering a second as a backup. Oh....just towed a trailer 250 miles and the adapter was still secure in the truck ever though it sagged a little. 705330

This trailer connection works as advertised. The best thing is the reversible switch apparatus which allows one to go from one type of connection, i.e. 12-volt, to a pole for brakes. It's nifty. 698532

This adapter sold by etrailer.com solved my wiring problem pronto ! My "new" 2012 Buick only had a 7 point RV plug. I needed a 4 pin trailer outlet. Did not want to rewire half the car to get one. Vanessa at etrailer knew immediately what the fix was. Adapter worked as advertised. Problem solved. Great customer service ! 659512

This trailer plug adapter is a "must have" item if you have a truck set up for Hot Shot or if you pull several different types of trailers. I use this adapter at least 3 times a week (plus I have 7 round pin plug for hauling agriculture trailers). I haven't had to use the "trailer break reversal" wire yet, but this is the main reason to purchase this adapter. This is a well built, Great product, well worth the money. 650426

  • How to Determine the Wire Functions on a Trailer to Install a 7-Way Blade Connector
The first thing you are going to want to do is determine the function of each of the wires. You cannot go by color alone because there is no standard color code. There are 2 ways that you can determine the wire functions on the trailer. First you can trace each wire back to see where it goes. The other way is to attach each wire, one at a time, to a separate car battery and see what function turns on. Once you have determined the functions you will wire in a 7-Way as follows: If...

Usually, the purple, black, and blue wires will serve the following functions: Purple = connects to reverse light circuit behind vehicle tail light (use circuit tester # 40376 to find correct wire) Black = connects to positive battery terminal via a 40 amp circuit breaker (# PK54540) Blue = connects to blue wire on brake controller If the trailer you are towing does not use any of these features, you do not have to connect the wires and you can tape them up and stow them out of...

  • 5-Way Recommendation for Trailer for Installing Reverse Lights
What's great about 4-way flats and 5-way flats is that they can fit each other without the need for an adapter. So what would be your best option is to use the part # HM47570 in the 7-way of your truck and then add a 5-way part # W002290 to your trailer. Basically you would want to cut off the 4-way wires short and then leave the 5th reverse light wire long to run it back to the reverse lights. The remaining wires would wire directly to the 4-way wires the trailer currently has.

It is possible to re-pin an adapter like # HM47570, but it would be much easier to add a 7-Way trailer connector to the trailer side and wire it accordingly to function with your reverse lockout. You can use Pollak Black Plastic, 7-Pole, RV-Style Trailer Connector - Trailer End, # PK12706, and wire it to match your vehicle side 7-Way. The center pole on the vehicle side 7-Way will need to be connected to the reverse light circuit. The new trailer side 7-Way would then need to be wired...

  • Why are My Brakes are Always Activated with a 6-Way Connector and a Curt Brake Controller
There are actually two different ways they will wire 6-ways. Basically the difference is between where the 12 volt power source is relevant to the brake output circuit. The only difference between one setup and the other is that the 12-volt power and brake output circuit is swapped. So all you should have to do is swap the brake wire with the power wire and everything should work fine.
