Carry a Kayak, a Canoe, or 2 SUPs

LockRack's Series-X watersport carrier has an expandable base that works with ratcheting arms, allowing you to carry 1 kayak, 1 canoe, or 2 stacked SUPs. You don't have to own several carriers, changing them out each time you want to take a different watercraft to the lake.

Series-X Universal Watersport Carrier

The carrier can expand or contract depending on the size of your watercraft. There are 4 holes in the middle expansion piece for the t-bolts once you've adjusted the carrier to your desired width. If your watercraft is wide, you can expand the base, threading the t-bolts through the carrier's base, then through the 2 holes furthest from the center of the bar. If you have a slimmer watercraft, close the gap between the 2 base pieces of the carrier, then thread the t-bolts through the 2 holes closest to the center of the bar.

Ratchet Arms

When your LockRack is not in use, you don't need to uninstall the carrier from your roof. Just remove the arms, rotate them 90-degrees, and then reinsert them so that they lay parallel with the roof of your vehicle. This will reduce wind noise and give you more clearance when parking in your garage.

No Load Straps Needed
Universal X Watersport Carrier

This carrier's two sets of ratcheting arms firmly hold your boards and boats in place on your way to and from the water. Its design removes the need for load straps, however, bow/stern tie-downs are still recommended as they prevent your watercraft from shifting forward or backward during travel, especially during sudden starts or stops.

Ratchet Arms

To load your kayak, canoe, or SUPS on to the Series-X you'll first need to remove the arms from one side of each carrier. To remove each arm, put the key in, rotate it, and pull the arm out, giving you access to the carrier's base. Once your watercraft is loaded, push the arms in until they click into place, securing it to your vehicle. To further secure your watercraft, you can attach bow and stern straps from your kayak, canoe, or SUPs to the front and rear of your vehicle (sold separately).

If your vehicle doesn't have any tie-down points, you can get an anchor kit (sold separately), which will let you create anchor points for bow and stern straps in the creases of your vehicle's hood and hatch.

Universal Installation

This LockRack carrier can be installed in the top channels of your crossbar or with the provided adapters. The adapters clamp around most crossbars.

To install the carrier with the adapters, set the carrier on top of your crossbars with the top portion of the adapter clamp already attached to the carrier base. Then hold the bottom portion of the clamp under your crossbar and tighten the clamps down with the included hardware and tool.

Built-In Security
Ratchet Arms

LockRack carriers have security built-in with locks in the base of the carrier, securing the ratcheting arms. Once you've locked your boards or boat in the carrier by pushing the arms tight against your watercraft, the arms will stay locked until you remove them with a key.

Replacement Key Number

This carrier comes with 4 identical keys. Once the arms are locked in place, insert a key into the locking mechanism in the carrier base. Rotate the key to unlock and release the ratcheting arms. If you ever need a replacement key (sold separately) you'll need to know your original key number. This number is not located anywhere on the carrier so be sure to make note of the numbers printed on the inside of the original set of keys.

This Lockrack is just what the doctor ordered! The wife loves it for her solo kayaking trips, all she needed was a step stool, but that is just because her bronco is tall and she’s not….anyways, very well made product. Thank you

PS. The adapters fit the stock ford roof rack rails of a 2025 Bronco sport perfectly!

Great substitution for the original lock rack. The only major difference is the arms. They are straight, and not bent like the OG lock racks are. They work great! I ordered the adjustable base (21" minimum) to match the other rack. These are great!

Unfortunately I did not have the best of luck with this product . I spoke with the company multiple times to ensure this would work with my rack. It did not. This system is made to work ONLY on a roof rack . I have a truck with a rack and a slot in the middle . We had to make different bolts and holders to install this. For using 2 Paddleboards we also had to modify the back of the racks holders to actually touch the boards to hold them in place . After the modifications and many many adjustments we have it working and it does hold great.

I picked excellent because it will eliminate climbing on a ladder to put on straps. When I first looked at it mounted on my car I never thought it would be secure. I recruited my neighbor to see if I could side load using a small stepstool. (I am 5'3"). With my old Thule rack I could cover the back of my car with a rug and slide my kayaks on up to the roof. Fortunately, I have a very light Eddyline kayak that I use most of the time, so for this kayak it is manageable. When I secured the kayak with the arms, I was surprised how tight it was with absolutely no movement. Haven't driven with it yet but I am sure that it will work well. The only problem I had was it took all afternoon to put it together. I think you need to improve the photos and have more detailed instructions. A current installation video with this newer designed kayak rack. The videos I found had several different arms.

Just fine...very secure. Only disadvantage for me as a short woman I cannot get it on on the roof of my car by myself. I cannot slide it up from the rear of the car either because of the rubber the arms which is necessary

Awesome invention. Greatly reduced the amount of time and frustration usually associated with loading up our 2 SUPs and small sport kayak. It does take some time to install but that is expected. Don't assume the initial installation is a 10-minute job. However, once the system is in place, loading and locking the SUPs and kayak was simple and quick. We did have to experiment a bit with the best combination to make everything fit. I was hoping we could fit three SUPs on one rack, but no chance. My only complaint is that the keys provided are plastic, and strip very easily when unlocking the bars to remove or make adjustments. Without a key, your stuff is stuck. We hope that LockRack with come up with a more sturdy, metal replacement key for this system.

The keys are an issue (wish they were metal), but everything else is great! I go sunrise kayaking only and hate putting straps on with cold hands at 3:30 in the morning. I have a Nissan Pathfinder and was able to put this on with another set of Malone J-hooks so that I can have a second kayak when I go with someone. Once the fear subsides of it possibly falling off, you realize how quick and easy this thing is to use. It takes me 1 minute instead of 9-18 minutes to get my kayak up and secure. I have tested it at 75mph without any jiggling or issues. I sat on this in my shopping cart forever and finally pulled the trigger. If you kayak at least 10 times a year or are going at high speeds for extended periods of time in warm weather, totally worth it. If not, well, there are cheaper options out there.

After a year, I am still happy with my purchase. The keys should definitely have been made out of metal as all the reviews note, but all of mine still work. You also need to oilgrease the slides if you keep them on your car year round. However, getting my kayak on and off went from 13 minutes to 1 minute. Double that since you have to do it twice and you are buying time. Also, you dont need front and rear straps on the highway. I never worry about straps coming loose anymore going 70mph to get to the rivers and lakes. It is super secure. If you kayak frequently or just have a lot of money, its worth it. I have a 2018 Pathfinder and Malone rack and can fit this along with Jhooks on the other side when I bring a friend kayaking. Its a tight fit, but it works. At 12-16 kayak sessions a year, thats 6-8 hours of kayak setup and mid-drive readjustment saved each year.

I am not seeing any previous contact with us, Warren, but I will do my best to get you taken care of. Have you tried shooting some Teflon-based spray or graphite powder into the opening and letting it sit for a few hours to over night? You could use WD40, but that can attract dirt and other gunk so I try to not use that in the actual lock cores. After you spray that in, work the key in and out a few times to see if it will turn. You can tap the key very lightly with a small hammer while trying to turn it as well. However, I emphasize lightly in this case as too much force can damage it further. If that is still not working, get some Kroil and thoroughly soak the core and let it sit over night. This stuff is a bit expensive and you will want to clean the core with brake cleaner afterwards, but it is the best penetrating oil on the market. At least in my opinion. Let me know if none of that works.

Original package was damaged during shipment, but Customer Service resolved the issue with no friction. Great experience. Lockrack is the easiest to use rack I’ve used. 30 seconds or less to load and unload kayak and paddle boards.

I would give it 4.5 stars if I could. Only cons are a slightly difficult installation and the quality of the plastic keys used to unlock the arms. Highly recommend the product.

I love this rack. It fits my double ocean kayak perfectly. It was easy to install and now I don’t have to do the tie downs that the other racks require. Also I can take it on out of town trips as it locks my kayak onto the rack. Finally somebody designed a easy lockable kayak rack. This product is a must have.

I use the Lockrack system to transport an inflatable stand up paddleboard. I know, seem counterintuitive, but while we transport our two boards in their deflated state for long distances (beach trips), they get more use locally if you can leave it inflated and toss it on the car and go. The Lockrack system is genius, and avoids all the fuss with ratcheting straps down, and hoping they are secure. Since these racks are not widely used from what I gather, it is somewhat difficult to determine the specs, and there are not a large number of reviews with specific examples of what can be carried. So for what it's worth, it CANNOT carry two inflatable paddleboards- specifically the Tower Adventurer 2 models. It might be able to fit a second board if it was the racing model (skinnier in width), and the composite SUPs are likely not as tall, so it really just depends on what you have. I already had a classic Lockrack double SUP rack (that only fit one of my inflatable boards), and was hoping the XL expandable rack would allow for both boards, but at max expansion it is actually the same width as the classic, non-expandable Lockrack. I think the XL adds a few inches extra height, but nothing in terms of width. So while I'm returning the XL model, it is not for lack of appreciation of what it can do. One day we'll upgrade to boards that can both fit, but for now, even cutting the time in half and inflating one board instead of two is reward enough. I don't own a kayak or canoe, but after watching friends struggle with transport, I would highly recommend the Lockrack system for that as well.

I don't really know what I am doing when it comes to mounting my gear on top of my truck but I just went with what I had. The Rhino Rack dual bars and Lockrack made it simple and very secure while hailing my camper and other items stored in my truck bed. It went just as I planned. Both my wife's SUP+ and my kayak traveled secure and out of the way. Looking for many more trips in our retirement.

Love the rack so far! I debated it, however struggled with pulling the trigger for a few reasons, primarily concerns for winter transporting with ice issues. I decided to buy it and just plan to use regular straps in the winter. The one thing I had a hard time finding any feedback on was the option for transporting a standards or touring SUP with a race board. They are both so different in shapes. I did find some comments about loading the board that is wider on the top. That would not work for me due to the shape of the board, plus I would not want my race board to have that kind of pressure. I have been loading it on top, but having it pushed forward more than I generally would. So far it is working great. I do get a whistle. Not sure if it is my roof rack, my lock rack or both. Still giving it a 5 due to its functionality!

Very sturdy and easy to use as a solo paddler loading it on my own. I just leave one side facing up and once kayaks on the roof, slide the other 2 arms to lock it in place, then put a strap around it for extra security if im traveling far

I mounted it on my Yakima racks. Very easy to do (directions could really be improved by having someone describe the steps more clearly). I have not used this. Could be a month or so. However, initially, it looks good. Too bad the angled arms that hold the kayak are not adjustable depending on the angle needed.

Fast shipping and great product. The lockrack XL watersport carrier is perfect for my hobie pro angler 12. It's strong enough to handle the weight of the pro angler 12. I still use a tie down to strap it to my Rhino-Rack. Overall great product.

I chose this product because I feel as though it will secure my kayak with minimal damage. I used cam straps in the past and they create so much pressure on the top and bottom side of the kayak. The Lockrack allows you to secure your kayak without applying a lot of pressure, plus it provides security from theft.

I had doubts when I first opened the box. No way would this thing hold my boat. My yak is a loaded 13' beast suitable for ocean and large lake fishing. Well over 100 lbs. I was tempted to return the rack but decided to install it, and let me tell you this Lockrack thing is as solid as a rock. I can cruise at 65 mph and my big old fishing yak doesn't wiggle, not one little bit. It's EXACTLY what I was looking for. Thank you!!!

The product is really nice. I like that most of the parts are aluminum and it's highly adjustable. Included instructions could be better but the etrailer videos were a big help.

Rec'd earlier this week, so today i will install. The item was obviously a return. The logos are nearly scratched off in places, all the items were loosely thrown in the box, and the 10mm wrench and hex key were missing. i think everything else is there. The keys should be a bright color instead of black, some spray paint will fix that. Anyhoo, i am a little disappointed.

these work really well...i emailed back and forth to the company about the width and they said that you don't have to install the small bar that joins the two pads if you're kayak is too wide. i have a hobie pa 14 and a nucanoe pursuit, both of which are too wide to keep the bar installed. hope that helps. great product, holds up well.

Eric, it actually doesn't look like we carry those arms unfortunately. We do have the Replacement Long Arm with Closed Angle for Lockrack Watersport Carrier # LR85FR which will work with the LockRack XL # LR54FR but it doesn't have as open of an angle as the original arms.
