Question:

Help me choose the necessary equipment. I have a new, 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Outland with the flush roof rails front to back. I want to add a roof rack system that will be used in two ways. I want to carry a rowing shell - 20 feet long but light approx 40 lbs. I will also lash my 10 foot long oars to the top of the car. I also want to be able to add a ski carrier box that will probably live on top of the car all winter. I do have one of those fins on top of the Grand Cherokee is it an antenna? I guess I will have to work around that fin with my boat and the ski box. Your suggestions? Thanks.

I have a solution for your roof rack carrying needs whichever season it may be.

First lets start with the rack that will custom fit your 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Since you have the flush roof rails that run front to back I recommend the Inno Roof Rack # INTR, # INB127, and the custom fit kit # INTR132 to complete your rack setup. These parts will give you the bars, mounts, and fit kit to attach everything to your vehicles roof. According to Inno this product should be used on vehicles with the E Group package. There should be a chrome/metal strip on top of the flush mount side rails.

Next for your rowing shell I would recommend the Inno Multi-Cradle Kayak Carrier # INA452. This is going to work with the square bars I've recommended above and be adjustable depending on your shell's width. Keep in mind that anything that sticks out from your vehicle could require the use of a red flag, this will vary, I would encourage you to look into the laws for your state. I linked a video on of this rack on a similar vehicle so you could check out how it mounts and works.

Finally, I have a roof cargo box recommendation that will make the transition from summer to winter quick and easy. Inno's Shadow Cargo Box # INBRA1210BK has a Memory Mount that you set once and allows you to install or remove a cargo box in seconds without adjustment each time. You are correct that the fin on your roof is an antenna but with this setup you shouldn't have any interference issues.
