Demanding trailer, camper, or payload weight can leave your truck squatting and less controlled. These air springs add up to 7,500 lbs of leveling support to reduce sag, sway, and bottoming, while internal jounces let you run 0 psi unloaded.
Your truck can feel composed empty, then change quickly once substantial pin weight, a slide-in camper, or a heavy work payload settles onto the rear suspension. The two adjustable rear air springs provide up to 7,500 lbs of load-leveling support to help bring a sagging rear back toward normal ride height while reducing sway and bottoming under load. Instead of treating that capacity as a target, you can tune the air pressure to the weight your truck is actually carrying.
A truck built for serious towing or hauling may still spend plenty of miles without that weight on the rear suspension. Internal jounce bumpers let you increase air pressure when a substantial load calls for more support, then reduce the air springs to 0 psi when the extra weight comes off. Those internal jounces protect the air springs against bottoming when suspension travel is used up, so you don't have to maintain air pressure simply to protect the bags during unloaded driving. The result is adjustable support that can work around both sides of your truck's job instead of treating every mile like a loaded one.
Suspension hardware lives where road spray, dirt, and weather reach it, so material choices matter underneath your truck. This kit uses braided stainless steel air lines along with stainless steel fittings, Schrader valves, roll plates, and mounting hardware to add corrosion resistance throughout key parts of the system. That extra durability is focused where it matters, helping the hardware you rely on for load support and pressure adjustment stand up to the environment beneath a working truck.
You'll start by measuring your truck's stock ride height and checking tire-to-frame clearance before removing the factory jounce bumpers, with rear-wheel removal optional if you want more working room. The air spring assemblies mount between the frame and axle using the existing jounce-bumper hardware up top and brackets secured around the leaf springs and axle below, with the lower bracket height set to match the available space and careful attention paid to brake-line clearance as everything is positioned. Once the springs are vertically aligned and torqued down, you'll install the passenger-side exhaust heat shields, then route the braided stainless steel air lines away from brake lines, fuel lines, wiring, and other potential trouble spots, leaving enough slack for suspension movement before mounting the Schrader valves where they're easy to reach. Adding air bags is a job experienced DIYers can handle, but if you would rather leave it to a professional, we can help you find an installer near you.
The included Schrader valves give you everything you need to adjust the air springs manually, but pulling out an external compressor can get old when your truck regularly switches between demanding loads and unloaded driving. You can add a Pacbrake Bravo Wireless Air Control Kit with XD Compressor (sold separately) to adjust pressure from your phone, check live pressure, and save presets for loads you come back to regularly. Also, you'll be able to choose between filling both air springs together or controlling them independently when the load isn't even side to side. It's an optional upgrade, but one that makes the adjustable part of an air-spring system much easier to use regularly. And it's not the only solution available. There are a variety of compressor options from Pacbrake that might be the perfect fit for your setup.

Hi, everybody, Andy here with etrailer. Let's take a quick look together at this Pacbrake Alpha XD Pro rear axle airbag suspension kit with internal jounce bumpers and stainless steel hardware. Now this kit has been designed to fit your 2017 to current Ford F250, F350, and F450 super duties, either with the two-wheel or four-wheel drives. Now on custom fit parts such as this kit, I do recommend taking advantage of our vehicle fit guide here at etrailer. Pop in your make and model of your vehicle and answer any other questions that it might have for you, and our fit guide will confirm if this kit will work for you or if we have something comparable that will work for you. So when the load gets heavy, your truck is going to need more than just your rear springs hanging on for dear life.
That's where this kit comes in. These airbags are going to add up to 7,500 pounds of rear axle support, keeping your truck level and steady. Even when your trailer is loaded, your bed is packed and the miles are long. So with this kit installed, you're not gonna have to worry about rear end sag anymore, throwing off your braking and steering, or your headlights potentially pointing up to the sky. Now bottoming out just doesn't feel rough, that can actually wreck your airbags.
That's why this system includes internal jounce bumpers inside of each bag as you can see there on that example of a Pacbrake airbag with the jounce bumper inside. So even with no air pressure, your suspension has a built-in safety net. You're gonna be able to safely run at zero PSI when unloaded, which means no harsh rebound, just a smooth factory-style ride. Now this kit includes these stainless steel braided airlines, which are gonna be more durable and resistant to wear compared to the standard rubber lines. You're also going to get these stainless steel roll plates, and I just kind of loosely assembled this with the brackets here and the roll plates and some of the hardware here, just to kind of give you an idea of what this is going to look like when they're installed.
Obviously, I don't have all the hardware laid out here on my table, I just don't have room. But I did want to show you on your screen, this is what you're going to be getting. The top picture is going to be just the standard kit with the standard hardware, but also included with this kit is going to be the hardware that you see at the bottom. And at the bottom, that's going to be the stainless steel upgrade kit. So you're gonna get all of that hardware, including the stainless steel upgrade kit.
So obviously, you're not going to be using all the hardware in this kit, but I just wanted to give you a heads up of what you're gonna actually be getting. Obviously, these stainless steel roll plates are going to help protect the airbags. You're gonna get stainless steel Schrader valves along with these stainless steel lines, and the the stainless steel components are just a big upgrade because they're gonna be built to last in the in harsher conditions. As you know, stainless steel is gonna resist rust and corrosion much better than the standard materials that this kit typically comes with. So it's gonna be stronger, less prone to damage, and you're gonna be less likely to deal with leaks and wear over time. Now, every haul is different. That's why these air springs are gonna give you full control over your ride height and firmness with adjustable air pressure from five to 100 PSI. So for instance, if you're hauling a fifth wheel or a full bed of gravel, you can crank that pressure up. And then when you're unloaded and heading home, you can drop that pressure back down for a softer ride. The manual inflation valves are going to help you tune your suspension for the day's work. So it's gonna be very straightforward. By the way, these springs are built with one inch thick corrosion resistant end caps, which you obviously can't see here because I do have them put together a little bit. And they're also reinforced with 20 internal support wires for maximum strength under load. These precision laser cut brackets are designed to bolt cleanly to your truck's existing mounting points without welding or drilling your frame. And this kit's gonna give you, like I said, up to 7,500 pounds of load leveling support. But just be aware of the fact that airbags don't actually increase your truck's weight carrying capacity. So you do wanna make sure that you're not exceeding your manufacturer's recommended weight limits. One final note I wanted to make. If you don't really wanna deal with the insulation yourself, we can help you with that. On this product page, typically underneath the photo section, we have a link that will take you to our installer locator. Click that link, answer the questions that it has for you, and that locator will find an installer in your area that etrailer has partnered with to install this kit for you. Well, I think it's gonna wrap up our look today. Again, my name is Andy, thank you for joining me.
