Firestone Ride-Rite Air Spring Basics

Firestone Ride-Rite springs are designed to increase safety and reduce the strain on your vehicle when you are hauling heavy loads or towing a heavy trailer. The springs partner with your existing rear suspension system to help keep your vehicle level, maintain even load distribution, and increase stability. Hauling heavy loads or towing a heavy trailer can make the rear of your vehicle sag and the front end rise. This puts more strain on your rear axle and reduces contact between your front tires and the road, causing problems with braking, steering control, and traction. By adding air springs to your rear suspension, you can help to level your vehicle and improve braking and handling. The air springs also help to level your headlight beams and reduce wear on your tires.

Adjustable Air Pressure

Firestone Ride-Rite air spring airline installation

The air pressure in your Ride-Rite springs can be adjusted manually, side to side, to compensate for off-center loads. A centered load improves the stability of your vehicle by reducing body roll. The air springs will also help to absorb road shock and to soften contact between your axle and frame. This prevents bottoming out, thus improving ride comfort. Route the air line tubing for the springs to your vehicle's bumper to provide easy access to the manual inflation valves.

Air Spring Construction

Firestone Ride-Ride air spring components

Firestone's double-convoluted Ride-Rite air springs are designed to give you maximum load support and enhance the performance and ride comfort of your vehicle. The rubber springs provide cushioning between your suspension components and operate at up to 100 psi. The springs have 4 layers of reinforced rubber to ensure durability and enhance load support. A braided wire girdle creates the double-convoluted shape of each air spring, increasing the burst pressure of the spring. The rubber springs are attached to corrosion-resistant metal end plates with a time-proven, rolled crimp seal that keeps the bags securely anchored.

Air Spring Installation

Each Ride-Rite kit includes custom-fit brackets that connect to your axle and frame. The brackets provide the mounting points for the air springs. No drilling required.

  • Suspension Enhancement Recommendation for 2019 Ford Ranger
The problem is that your trailer frame is aluminum and basically all trailer manufacturers will not allow use of weight distribution systems with their trailers if the frame is aluminum. So what your best solution would be then is rear suspension enhancement for your 2019 Ford Ranger. For that you'd want the Firestone Ride Rite air bag kit part # F28ZR and you'd be set. This will do a great job getting rid of any suspension sag due to the tongue weight of your trailer.

  • Air Bag Kit Recommendation for a 2021 Ford Ranger with In-Bed Deck System and Ladder Rack
Hey Joe, sweet ride! For the best and most reliable ride quality I actually recommend picking up the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs # F28ZR. The Air Lift Kit # AL88234 with the internal jounce bumpers can produce a rougher ride, and the Ride-Rite air bags have a better construction which is why I recommend the Firestone over the Air Lift. I also recommend checking out the Air Lift WirelessONE Tank Kit # AL67DQ which will keep the air bags within 3 psi of the setting you choose,...

  • Are Ride-Rite Air Bags Compatible With 2023 Ford Ranger Tremor
I checked with Firestone, and there is no mention of any issue with the fits on a Tremor package, so your 2023 Ford Ranger can use the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs # F28ZR. These will do a superb job of helping with the sag on the back end of your Ranger with your truck camper on so you made a really nice choice. The only other thing I recommend, in order to help inflate and maintain the pressure in the bags, is a compressor, the Air Command Compressor System # F2610.

  • Recommended Air Bags for a 2023 Ford Ranger
Yes, we do have a set of Firestone air bags that will fit your 2023 Ford Ranger. They are the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs item # F28ZR. These air bags have a 5,000 lbs capacity that will level out the rear end of your Ranger when you are towing a trailer or hauling a heavy load in the bed. All mounting brackets and hardware are included for installation. I really like the Firestone airbags because they use a crimp rolled design which is much more durable than the band clamp...

  • What Air Bags Fit a 2021 Ford Ranger Tremor?
Hey Walter. The Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs item # F28ZR is the only air bag system that fits the 2021 Ford Ranger with the Tremor Package. These air bags have a 5,000 lbs capacity that will level out the rear end of your Ranger when you are towing a trailer or carrying a heavy load. All mounting brackets are custom fit and the kit includes all hardware necessary for installation. I also recommend adding the Firestone Air Command item # F2610 to your truck. • Firestone Ride-Rite Air Bags for a 2021 Ford Ranger XLT 4WD w/ the Tremor Package
I just confirmed with Firestone that the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs - Double Convoluted - Rear Axle item # F28ZR is the correct air bag system for your 2021 Ford Ranger XLT 4WD with the Tremor Package. The only thing that was done to the rear suspension was a slight tweak with the leaf springs which does not effect the mounting of the air bags. I recommend adding the Air Lift WirelessAIR Compressor System for Air Helper Springs - Remote - Bluetooth - EZ Mount item # AL74000EZ....

  • What is Weight of Curt TruTrack Weight Distribution System
The total weight of the Curt TruTrack part # C17500 is 115 lbs. What's interesting about weight distribution systems is that the weight of the system doesn't add to the tongue weight of the trailer since essentially it becomes a part of the trailer hitch which our manufacturers have told us is why this is. I looked up the towing capacity of the 2019 Ford Ranger and it appears to be 350 lbs but you should verify this as well in your owners manual. Also worth mentioning is that it looks...
