When your truck is working harder under tow, factory brakes can feel slower to respond. This rear brake upgrade kit pairs severe-duty pads with rotors that manage heat and deliver strong initial bite, so repeated stops stay smooth and predictable.
Adding trailer weight changes how your truck responds when you press the brake pedal, especially during sudden stops or repeated braking. These brake pads use a severe-duty, low-metallic friction formula that delivers a strong initial bite, while the matched rotors use OEM-style vanes to help manage the added heat towing creates. Together they give your truck a more immediate, predictable braking response that stays consistent through repeated stops.
Brake vibration often traces back to uneven rotor machining or inconsistent braking surfaces, especially after repeated heat cycles. The rotors use computer-controlled castings with fly-cut, mill-balanced construction and meet or exceed OE specifications for machining tolerances. A non-directional cross-hatch finish promotes even pad bed-in, helping your brake service start with uniform contact and maintain smooth pedal feel as your truck accumulates miles.
New brake components require a break-in period before they deliver their intended performance. These brake pads use positive mold manufacturing to produce consistent density and precise dimensions, then add a bed-in coating that improves initial pedal feel and shortens the break-in process. Multi-layer vulcanized rubber shims help limit the extra noise commonly associated with high-bite low-metallic pads, so your truck delivers responsive braking without unnecessary chatter.
Road spray, moisture, and winter conditions often leave exposed brake components looking rough long before the friction surface wears out. The G3000 premium raw iron rotors use an OnyxBond matte black coating on the hat, vanes, and edges to help reduce rust on exposed non-friction surfaces. Your rotors stay looking better between services without affecting braking performance.
Replacing brake rotors is a job many experienced DIYers can handle, but brakes are one of those projects where being almost right is still wrong. If you would rather leave it to a professional, find an installer near you.

Hi, everybody, Andy here with etrailer. Let's take a quick look at this Timbren Rear Wheel BES Brake Upgrade Kit. Now, this kit has been designed to fit your 2019 to current Ram 1500 and then your 2021 to 2024 Ram 1500 without the 6.2-liter engine. And on custom-fit parts such as this kit, I do recommend taking advantage of our Vehicle Fit Guide here at etrailer. Pop in the year, make, and model of your vehicle, answer any other questions that it might have for you, and our Fit Guide will confirm if this kit will work for you or if we have something comparable that will work for you. Now, upgrading the suspension on your truck can definitely improve the ride quality, can help reduce sag, and it can also make your truck feel more stable while you're towing or hauling, but it doesn't reduce the extra workload that's being placed on your factory brakes.
So, if you ever felt like that your truck takes longer to brake when you're towing a heavy trailer or you're hauling a heavy load, or maybe your brakes are wearing out faster than you expect them to, or maybe the added weight is making your braking feel less confident, that's where this BES Upgrade Kit comes into play. This kit is designed to give your truck stronger, more reliable, more consistent braking when it's towing those heavy trailers or carrying those heavier loads. These low metallic ONYX bike brake pads are going to provide a strong initial bite and eliminate brake fade that occurs with frequent stopping when towing. So, you're going to notice more confident, consistent braking performance on every road trip. These multi-layered rubber shims are going to help stabilize the brake pads during braking, and that's going to ultimately reduce vibration, keeping the brake noise to a minimum without sacrificing braking performance.
On your screen, I have a few photos there for you. The first photo is a closeup of one of those shims from Timbren, just showing you the construction there. The second photo is just what that brake pad looks like with the shim removed to give you a better look at the construction of that pad. So, these positive molded pads, paired with these precision balance rotors, are gonna promote smooth, even braking, and more consistent pedal feel. Speaking of these rotors, these are OEM-style vented rotors, as you can see here.
And that's gonna help dissipate heat during repeated stops to reduce brake fade when towing. And these are premium G3000 raw iron rotors, and they feature Timbren's OnyxBond matte black coating on the hat, veins, and outer edges. As you know, heat is the enemy of your brakes. So this OnyxBond coating has a heat threshold of up to 932 degrees Fahrenheit, which is 67% better than the standard GEOMET coating that's most commonly used on OEM parts. This coating is also going to help protect these rotors from rust caused by road spray, moisture in winter driving, keeping your brakes looking cleaner between surfaces without affecting braking performance.
These brake pads also feature a bed end coating indicated by the blue lines on the pads. That's gonna transfer to the rotor to protect it during the first stop. So, you're gonna be able to enjoy consistent braking performance sooner after the installation. Installation's gonna be straightforward. You are going to get everything that you see here on my table, the rotors, the pads, the hardware, the lubricant. But if you're not real excited about doing the insulation yourself, that's understandable. So on this product page underneath the Photos section, we have a link that will take you to our Installer Locator. Click that link, answer the questions that it has for you, and that locator will find an installer in your area that etrailer has partnered with to do the install for you. But overall, if you've already upgraded the suspension on your truck and you have that more controlled ride that you're looking for, this brake kit is going to complement that suspension upgrade by basically addressing the other half of the equation, giving your truck the stopping power and the confidence to better handle the extra weight of towing or hauling. Together, it's gonna help create a safer, more capable towing experience and set up. Well, that's going to wrap up our look today. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.
