One of the more popular cooling systems available, the radiator-style, plate-and-fin heat exchanger provides increased surface area so that fluids can spread out along the finned chambers to cool faster. In addition to the increased surface area, this cooler also features turbulator technology, whereby fluids are agitated continuously, not only to facilitate heat transfer, but also to prevent any undesirable drop in pressure.

This oil cooler has really helped improve the oil pressure in my GEN III Hemi by reducing the oil temperate approximately 20 degrees cooler than before we installed it. Excellent product by Derale and service by etrailer.com.

by:

The cooler was easy to install, the instruction were easy to follow. I did check the oil temp after pulling a 4000 ft grade pulling a camp trailer with an electronic temp probe and there was a 50 deg temp drop thru the cooler.

My original transmission cooler sprung a leak on my 1990 dodge pickup and a direct replacement couldn't be found. Etrailer had a cooler that would fit and do the job. Would highly recommend them to solve your problems and supply what's needed.

Hose could be a little longer for non professionals cutting too short.
I would recommend buying extra hose too install. Overall easy too install and works great

Fittings came contaminated with metal shavings from machining and wouldn't even fit in to the cooler really poor quality. If this is in the fittings who knows whats in the cooler. Complete waste of time do not buy

  • Transmission Fluid Needed for Transmission Cooler Installation
When you install the Derale Series 9000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler # D13611 a little extra fluid will be needed. The last part of the installation instructions have you add fluid as needed and then drive the vehicle for a little while and recheck the fluid level. Not much additional fluid is needed unless much is spilled when you disconnect and reconnect the lines. Normally just a few ounces of fluid is needed.

  • Comparing Different Types of Transmission Coolers for a 2006 Subaru Outback Wagon
The reason you do not see any cooling capacity figures for a transmission cooler is because there are just too many variables at hand to give any sort of accurate estimates. These variables have to do with ambient temperature, mounting location, etc. That said, there is a way to compare the coolers and that is by their construction; tube-and-fin (least efficient), plate-and-fin (moderately efficient), stacked-plate (most effective). The Derale Series 9000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler...

  • Transmission Cooler for 2005 Honda Accord V6.
The Derale # D13611 transmission cooler isn't designed to replace the factory transmission cooler, it's designed to supplement it. The cooler installs inline on the return line from the factory cooler back to the transmission. The heat exchanger portion would ideally be installed directly behind the grillwork, in front of the radiator. If you use the provided link, my buddy David will run through how the cooler works. I'll also link to some help articles about transmission coolers.

  • Which Line Is Transmission Fluid Return Line on 2009 Chevrolet Tahoe
Typically the return line of the transmission is the one at the bottom of the cooler. You can do a small test to determine which line is the return line. First, start engine while engine is cold. Put the transmission in drive for no more than 10 seconds Stop engine Feel the both of the lines, and whichever one is cooler is the return line that is taking the fluid back to the transmission. • Transmission Cooler Recommendations for a 2011 Toyota Corolla
Both the Derale Series 9000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit, # D13611 and the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit , # D13501, would be a great choice for your 2011 Toyota Corolla. The general rule is that transmission fluid cannot be cooled too much, so using the largest cooler that will fit is a good idea, especially if towing. The only reason not to add the largest cooler possible, would be if you live in very cold climates where temperatures are below 0 degrees often...

  • Transmission Cooler For A 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee With A 3 Liter Diesel
I contacted Derale to verify that any transmission cooler will work on your 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee as long as it will fit where you want to install it. I recommend the Derale Series 9000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Item # D13611 as it is small enough to mount in many different locations but still provide you with the proper cooling for your transmission. I have also provided a link to the different size coolers for a Jeep Grand Cherokee so you can take a look and get a better idea...

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a 2010 Honda Accord
When choosing a transmission cooler, there are several factors that go into deciding the best one for your needs. This includes how much weight you will be towing with your 2010 Honda Accord, the terrain you will be driving on, the distance you will be towing, and the available location a cooler can be installed in order to keep the transmission fluid in the optimum temperature range (160 to 200 degrees F). I would recommend the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit, item # D13502, for your 1997 Honda CRV. This cooler will be more than adequate for towing the weights you will be towing. You can not cool transmission fluid too much so the larger the cooler is, the better. We have a video installation of this cooler on a 2006 Honda CR-V that will be very similar to the installation on your 1997 model, see link. • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a 2003 Acura MDX
The best way to pick out a fin style transmission cooler for your 2003 Acura MDX would be to measure the space in front of your radiator and use the largest transmission cooler you could fit there. A popular cooler with other owners of MDX's like your is the Derale Cooler part # D13503. The dimensions of this cooler are 11" Wide x 8-3/4" tall x 7/8" deep. • Are Additional Fittings Needed to Install Transmission Cooler on a 2008 Nissan Armada SE 5.6L
You should not have to worry about that warning since it is uncommon. The transmission cooler # D13611 comes with an Insta-dapt fitting that you can use to avoid have to flare the steel or aluminum lines. The worst case scenario is that you would have to flare the metal lines, if applicable. If the lines are aluminum you can flare them with a Phillips screwdriver. Steel lines would require a flare tool which your local auto parts store should have. But I do not think that will be necessary...

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation to Replace a Faulty Cooler in a 2006 Nissan Xterra
Aftermarket transmission coolers are typically marketed as supplemental coolers, not replacement coolers. If you are looking to replace your OEM transmission cooler due to a leaky or damaged cooler, then you will want to install the largest transmission cooler that will fit in the space available. The ideal place to install this cooler would be in front of the AC condenser or radiator to allow for adequate air flow. I would recommend looking at the Derale Series 9000 Plate-Fin Cooler,...

For your 2016 Ford F-150 5.0 Liter, I recommend the Derale Series 9000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit w/ NPT Inlets item # D13611. This cooler is the highest capacity available for your F-150. It is 11" wide x 3-7/8" tall x 1-1/4" deep. The reason I like this cooler over others is that it includes a complete mounting kit, with OEM spec hose with stainless steel clamps, Insta-dapt radiator adapter and hose-barb fittings. I have linked a review video below.

  • Can the Factory Transmission Cooler be Replaced on a 2006 Nissan Xterra
The factory transmission cooler is likely inside of the radiator on your 2006 Nissan Xterra so the only way to replace it would be to replace the radiator. You can probably find an aftermarket one for less money than an OEM replacement from Nissan. I can tell you that what they want to charge, assuming that includes parts AND labor, is not a bad price for that type of repair. Bypassing the factory cooler would be the best option if you don't want to replace the radiator. If you do that...

  • Aftermarket Transmission Cooler Installation for Mitsubishi Vehicles
It would not surprise me if Mitsubushi OEM transmissions had a function that stopped the flow of transmission fluid out of the transmission when the transmission is cold. I do not believe that this option would be installed outside of the transmission, because there would need to be a bypass hose and valves in the transmission output and return lines, causing a complicated installation at the factory. • Can Transmission Cooler be Installed on a Vehicle with Sealed Transmission
Sealed transmissions make installing a transmission cooler a bit more interesting since there isn't an easy way to add or check fluid. There may not be a dipstick on your transmission, but there is drain and fill plug. You are going to have to use a lube pump to get the proper amount of fluid in the vehicle so honestly your best option is going to be to have a transmission shop do the install since they will have the equipment needed. • Will a Transmission Cooler Affect Engine Temperature Towing With A 2016 Grand Caravan
Transmission coolers should not impair the engine's ability to stay cool when operating. One point to note is that these coolers are much smaller than the radiator and allow plenty of air flow to pass both around and through to the engine. For transmission coolers, the Derale Series 9000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit # D13611 is a fine choice. It's a radiator style design and the fluid is continually agitated to help dissipate heat. Include is a video review for more information.

The cooler is a plate fit design, which offers extremely high efficiency in a small package that won't take up much room on the front of your radiator.
