It is a direct OEM replacement, easy installation. What I liked most was a real person answered my call and took my order, Katherine was very polite and knowledgeable. Thanks again. CJ

No issues at all.

Worked out awesome. I bought this for a buddy for his used truck. The previous owners for what ever reason took it. Plugged it in and worked flawlessly.

product from Pollak is always great but they packed it with steel couplers and destroyed it

2004 NissanTitan

The 3 star rating is because this is not a direct replacement for a Nissan Armada. I bought this to replace the original socket on a 2004 Nissan armada. The hitch on the car says it is a Nissan hitch. I did not notice that the original socket mounted as a twist lock type and the bracket had no mounting screws when I ordered this socket. In defense of the manufacture and distributor of this socket the description did not say it was a direct replacement for an armada the assumption would be that the hitch would be the same as a titan. This was no big deal for me since I had a drill and bits to drill mounting holes and used # 8 sheet metal screws. Just have to be careful to drill the holes the right size so they self thread properly. I have been looking to see if there is a direct replacement for the original socket but can't seem to find one not even on Nissan's parts web site so I guess you just have to do what I did. I didn't think to take a video of the installation but I have included a picture of the finished install.

I had to replace the socket in my truck after I forgot to disconnect the plug when setting up my camper 1 year ago. Since then, I've connected the camper 35 times and pulled it over 6,000 miles. I have had no issues at all with the new socket.

It fit perfect and was literally plug and play.

2016 Porsche Cayenne

It fit right up to my 2016 Porsche Cayenne diesel. A very simple installation.

by:

Still working after a year. Performs as expected. Easy to install.

by:

Easy to install and has worked every si nce

by:

This is it!! If you have a Porsche Cayenne with a tow package (mine's a 2017) and you're wondering why the wiring "connector" that came from the factory is just a plate with nothing to plug in to... This is the thing you need! It fits the holes in the mounting bracket perfectly and plugs right into the harness coming out of the car (after you carefully release the little clip holding the clip connecting the plate to the harness (no, that's not a typo). I also purchased a matching 7 to 4-pin adapter, so I can easily connect to either. And etrailer had it all... and made it easy. Quick shipping, just as promised. Love e-Trailer! :)

1995 Ford F-250 Super Duty

After redoing my trailer wiring harness to put a socket in the bed of my 1995 F250, I used this to replace the old socket in my bumper. Saved me having to do more splicing and hard wiring in the old socket.

After a year of use, this is still working great. I don’t use it a lot as most of my towing is of the 5th wheel using the in-bed connector.

Hi, I am a ASE Certified Automotive technician for 30-plus years. I have to say these parts are Factory quality, the option for Direct Fit everything plugs right into the wiring harnesses fits as if they came as original equipment with the vehicle and the same quality. When ordering parts if you call and speak to an operator that extremely helpful and actually know what's going on. And their tech support this extremely knowledgeable.

by:
2008 Porsche Cayenne

This is the original plug and play. For VW SUV's this does the trick. I recommend using some anti-seize on the bolts that secure this into the mount. I have this on both an Audi and a Porsche both work great. The picture shows what the car some with so you simply plug this unit into the factory socket and secure with 4 machine screws.

by:

Nice fit to my factory harness. This was a replacement for the factory hitch mount. I decided to drill a hole and mount in the bumper like I’ve seen on other vehicles. This makes for a convenient and protected location.

by:

Direct replacement for factory socket.

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Wiring that Stopped Working on 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan
First thing to do is take some sandpaper to clean off all of the pins of your trailer wiring as what you described sounds like corrosion preventing connection from being made which is VERY common. I also attached a couple help articles on troubleshooting trailer wiring for you to check out as well.

  • Can a P3 Brake Controller Install in a 2012 Ram 1500 with Integrated Controller
If you have a controller already installed on your 2012 Ram 1500 and it worked at one point you would have a 7-way connector. At the rear of your vehicle the trailer connector should look like a round connector like the # PK11893. To install a P3 # 90195 all you would need is the part # 3021-P which is the same connector used to install a P2 like you mentioned. I attached a help article on installing controllers in Rams like yours with integrated controllers for you to check out as well.

  • Replacement 7-Way Recommendation to Replace Broken Wiring of 7-Way
The style of 7-way you have that has the blue terminals cannot be taken apart once put together. We have tried here and we always end up braking them. You are going to have to replace your 7-way with a new one like the part # PK11893 that you referenced. You would want to wire up this 7-way the same way that your old one is wired up.

There is a bundle of wires under the brake pedal of your 2012 Chevy Silverado that will have an orange wire that should be used to power the third brake light of the camper shell. I have also read that the light blue wire under the rear of your vehicle in the harness near the trailer connector will also work, but I would recommend you use a circuit tester like our # PTW2993 to make sure that this wire only sees voltage when the brakes are applied and none when the blinkers are on without...

How can I help? I see the picture you submitted but beyond that it's a bit open ended as to what you are in need of. If you are unsure what wires go where you'll need to test to be sure or trace them. You can use a jumper wire from a 12 volt car battery to put voltage on each wire to see what activates.

If you are installing a new 7-Way connector using the Universal Wiring Kit # ETBC7 (or similar harness) on your vehicle and the trailer you plan on towing isn't equipped with electric brakes there's no reason the brake output wire needs to be run from the 7-Way connector. In this case the short brake output wire on the 7-Way can simply be capped off or if you're just installing a plug like # PK11893 the wire doesn't need to be added at all. If your trailer IS equipped with electric brakes...

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Running Lights Blowing Vehicle Fuse when Head Lights are Turned On
Since turning on your headlights blows the fuse for your running lights on your trailer, the issue likely isn't a ground but rather a short. It sounds like the lesser power draw doesn't blow the fuse, yet when that draw changes with the headlights, the surge causes the issue. The issue has to be that the circuit shorts to cause that fuse issue. I recommend tracing that wire and checking for any fraying, kinks, or missing insulation where that wire may short to the frame or another wire. If...

The Hopkins 6 Pole to 7 Pole Adapter, # 47435, does have a pin for the brake output for a brake controller. This adapter will work for your set up as long as the center pin of the 6-way plug on your RV is for 12v power and the pin in the 10 o clock position is for the brakes. You can verify this using a circuit tester like part # PTW2979. If the center pin on your 6-way plug is wired for brakes and the pin in the 10 o clock position is for 12v power, then you can still make an adapter...

I looked in the owner's manual for your 2007 Ford F-350 and they did not list the colors of the trailer wiring harness for the trailer connector. Therefore, you will need to either test each one with a circuit tester while the circuits are active or contact your local dealer for the wiring diagrams. I was unable to find much about the wires you located. That being said, you will need to test your plugs with something like # PTW2993. This will confirm which port is which function. As we do not have anything that will plug directly into your plugs, the # PK11893-11933 will need to be hardwired to get everything up an running. Due to this, it would be better to go with # PK11893 and # PK11998. This is specifically a hardwire kit so you wouldn't need to cut off the rectangular plug.
