Video Transcript for Pollak Wiring PK11998 Review

Today we'll be reviewing part number Pk11998. This is the Pollak 4' pigtail wiring harness for the Pollak replacement 7-pole RV socket. It's got the interior locking mating connector for the Pollak 7-pole trailer connector, part number Pk11893. It's going to include 4' of wiring harness. It's going to hardwire into the vehicle's wiring system. It has 1/2" convoluted tubing for protection for the wires, and it includes the color-coded 7 wire leads that meet RVI standards.

It's going to form a weather-tight seal on the back of the socket. It's going to keep out moisture and prevent corrosion. Again, this is designed for the Pollak 7-pole trailer connector, part number Pk11893. The wiring configuration: Red wire is going to be for left turn and stop. It's going to be 14-gauge. White is going to be for the ground.

That's going to be a 10-gauge wire. Blue is going to be our electric brakes. That's a 12-gauge. Green is for our right turn and stop. That's 14-gauge wire.

Black is going to be for our battery. That's going to be a 12-gauge. And then brown is going to be for running lamps, and yellow is going to be for backup lamps, and both of those are 14-gauge wiring. It's going to come with the bud connectors and the ring terminal, so all that's included. Again, you have 4' in length. That's going to do it for today's review of part number Pk11998.

This is the Pollak wiring harness for the Pollak replacement 7-pole RV socket. .

This also fits the Pollack 11-916. The PK 11916 seems to be the twist lock version of the 4 bolt 11893. The 11916 came with the GM hitch that I installed on my Silverado. Caution; once I pushed the PK11998 onto the PK11916, the internal locking tab engaged without using the external lock / unlock button. The only way to get the harness off was to force the two apart thus breaking the internal locking tab. That doesn't seem to be a problem because everything is a tight fit anyway. The locking tab seems to be overkill, kind of like "wearing suspenders with a belt". 251743

The clip that holds it in place on the wiring plug broke after clipping it in. Now the plug won't stay in. Very poor quality clip for the price. 635497

I received everything in short order. The instructions from the website gave great detail. The only thing I would add would be to measure the distance between the tabs on the original hitch and make the same on the new one by bending/taping them. 588101

The web site was easy to use and the tracking was very helpful. 569101

The Pigtail assembly that I received was wired incorrectly. Normal seven pin color coding was not followed. The Yellow wire (normally left turn/stop light), was wired into the backup light center pin, the red wire (normally +12 volt supply), was wired into the left turn/stop pin, and the black wire (normally backup lights), was wired to the +12 volt supply pin. Good quality wire and correct gauge, probably just a supplier / quality control issue. 558621

Theres more than one accepted wiring convention for a 7-way trailer connector, which is why we list the wire color code on the product description page on our website.

This was right part for my 2016 Colorado. Very good video on installation. I paired it with part #HM40975. Great hook-up. I installed Draw-Tite receiver (#75948). Everything work as advertised, but video for install of hitch wasn't accurate. But good enough to get the job done. After I was done with total install, I was very happy. Ready to pull my trailer anywhere. 456728

The color code is all wrong with this harness. After I wired all the colors together, I tested my trailer lights and the left side didn't work. After researching on the etrailer site I come to find out this thing is not inline with the standard color code that every trailer under the sun uses. There should be a highlighted note saying that it's different from the normal color code or something. Had to rewire and heat shrink. 452065

Bought 3 items--Trailer connector socket, mounting bracket and 4' pigtail. They were just what I needed. Did not know ID #'s and names till I got help. Then looked at video of how to wire the wires that weren't color matched . Not only was it simple and quick but less expensive than competitors. Shipped same day --- took 3days counting shipping day to arrive. Super customer service, price and shipping time. Thank you Etrailer. E-trailer has always been fast, responsive, and helpful on many of my orders. Used this to replace a broken truck side connector on my 2012 F250. It's exactly the same as the factory plug. The wire harness on the 2012 is over 300 from Ford on the late model 2011 and up F250. Instead you can cut and splice this connector. The wires are a different color but you can see the numbers on the factory and new connector and match them up. I did decide to solder and shrink wrap my wires but the kit comes with butt connectors. Good quality part no different then OEM and fits well on the existing 7pin putco connector. 245526

  • Adding a 7-Way Trailer Connector to a 2016 Chevrolet Express 3500 Van
  • We don't have a 7-way to plug directly into the van but I do have an option for you. If your 2016 Chevrolet Express 3500 van had a factory 7-way and it needs to be replaced you can wire in a new one with a harness like # PK11998 and then connect it to a 7-way connector like # A10-7072VP or # HM40975. If there is currently no trailer connector at all you will first need to install a 4-way connector, # 31345. Once you have the 4-way you can use our # ETBC7 kit for a fully functioning...

  • The Pollak # PK11998 wiring harness is the correct one that you would need. It plugs into the back of many different types of 7-Way trailer connectors so it isn't surprising that the one you have looks different than the ones we carry. As long as your connector has the round receptacle in the back to plug in a harness # PK11998 will work. I believe the one you have is the same as or similar to # PK11893.

  • Installing OEM Replacement 7-Way Trailer Connector on 2007 Toyota Tundra
  • The correct replacement 7-way for your Tundra should be part # HM43385. You can confirm this by examining the connectors under the truck that the connector would plug into. The HM43385 fits 2003-2007 Tundra models, according to Hopkins. It is important that you check the existing connectors to ensure you get the correct...

  • Trailer connector # HM40975 is meant as a replacement for a factory 7-Way trailer connector so to install it on your 2017 Ford Escape it is going to take some additional parts. If you do not already have that part then I recommend using # ETBC7 instead because it is easier and minimizes the additional parts you will need. For either part you can mount the bracket for it in a place that is convenient for you. Typically they are found on the driver's side of the vehicle. The factory mounting...
