Video Transcript for AMPLock Trailer Coupler Lock for Flat Lip 2" Ball Couplers Spec Review

What's up everybody. It's AJ, with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna be checking out this amp lock, coupler lock, and this is going to be good for those flat lip trailers on the front and with a two inch coupler. So, you're going to be able to put this on the front of your trailer, lock it up, and you can see it's blocking anybody for messing with the front here on this coupler. The ball is actually in there, blocking that space, and you can't get a tool in there to mess with that or even hook it up to a trailer. It's nice and secure when you're not around.

Let's check it out. So now, the lock comes in two different pieces. So we got this part, which is the two inch ball, that's going to go up in the coupler and fill this whole space, which is good because that's what sets it apart from the other locks. Sometimes they just have a pin that goes in there or just a little covering. This is going to fill up that entire space just like it would, if you we're hooked up to your truck.

That way, again, like I said, you can't get any tools in there or force anything in there to try and tow it out. So then, with that in there, you put it in the second piece and this is where that flat lip is going to fit in. Just push it on like that. And then we can push in the cylinder at the bottom. That's locked in place.

Look, in the bottom down here, you got a rotating disc coupler, and that's going to be the way it locks up and it's going to be resistant to drilling and lock-picking. Now, it comes with two keys. And then all you gotta do, is go under here, wind it up, rotate it until the cylinder comes out, just like that. And that's what makes it unlock. Looking out the side, this portion is going to be cast iron.

So it's going to be shock-absorbent. That means if you we're to hit with a hammer, it would be able to absorb that force, and not cause any problems. One thing I'd probably add though, is if you're going to go through the trouble of getting a lock and put it on your coupler, I would go and get a locking pin for here, for the coupler release. So you're gonna put that through here and have the lock on that side. We have plenty of those on the website. I would look at one of those just to go ahead and lock this up, lock this up, that way nobody can mess with any of it. You're gonna want to make sure this fits on your trailer coupler before you get it. So, to explain that, it's going to go and fit on trailer couplers with up to four inches. And it's going to fit on the thickness of three eights of an inch. Overall, I think it's worked great for your trailer. Never hurts to add that extra theft to turn on there like this lock. It's going to be on the front. Somebody walks by and they're more likely to look at that and go, "I'm not going to mess with it." Move on to the next trailer. But I think that does it.
