Determining the Bolt Pattern
The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.
To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)
On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)
Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this Taskmaster 13 inch by four and a half inch Trinity Series Black Machined Aluminum Trailer Wheel. Now this is an aluminum wheel. It's very durable, lightweight, and rust-proof. We mentioned it's a Trinity series, which means it's the five fork design in the black finish. Has a machine silver finish on the outer edge of the spokes to provide a nice, bold, sleek look.
And also around the outer lip. The glossy black enamel coating resists corrosion. If you notice the center cap in it, it is included. And basically what's nice with the center cap, it installs from the rear here, but also there's a center plug here that you can pop out on the center cap. And what that does is when you pop that out, lets you gain access if you happen to have EZ Lube axles on your trailer, EZ Lube axles will have the grease Zerk fitting on the spindle that allows you to pump grease in without having to remove the wheels and tires.
Cap is included, and then also right down here, if you notice, the valve stem is included, pre-installed. This wheel does meet the SAE J1204 standards. Two dimensions on the wheel, the diameter, which will always be measured inside the inside. So on this wheel, you can see there's your 13 inch diameter. The width is gonna be the same way.
When you measure the width, it's bead seat to bead seat. So inside the inside, four and a half inches. Now the bolt pattern on this wheel is a five on four and a half inch bolt pattern. And if you want to measure that on a wheel, that's an odd number of lugs. What you'll wanna do is pick any hole, let's say this one, and you'll measure direct across to either this hole or this hole.
But the trick is when you measure, it's from the center of the starting hole to the furthest edge of whichever hole you measure to. So on this one, if we measured, it'd be four and a half inches. Means it's a 5 on four and a half inch bolt pattern. Does use a wheel lug size of a half inch by 20. The pilot hole diameter, which is the large hole here that the cap goes through, diameter on this opening is 3.19 inches. And the weight capacity on this wheel is 1,750 pounds. But that should do it for a look at the Taskmaster 13 inch by four and a half inch Trinity Series Black Machine Aluminum Trailer Wheel.
