Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com, and today, we're gonna take a look at this Custer Submersible Red Lens LED Side Marker or Clearance Trailer Light. Now, with this little waterproof LED trailer light, you are going to be able to haul safer by alerting other drivers of your trailer's position and direction of travel. Now, I already have this connected to 12 volt power, as you can see here, just to give you an idea of how bright this is. It's relatively bright with my studio lights on, let me go ahead and turn my studio lights off to give you a better demonstration. This trailer light functions as a side marker or clearance light. The 16 white LEDs can last 50 times longer than incandescent lights, and they're more efficient providing brighter light with less power output, and there's no bulb to replace, no brittle filaments.
This is a P2 rated light, meaning that it produces a 45 degree angle of light to either side of its center line for a total of 90 degrees of coverage. The beam pattern can be seen straight on, but it cannot be seen clearly from the side, so this type of light can be used as either a side marker light or a clearance light, but cannot function as both. If you need both functions, then you must install two separate lights on your trailer, one as a front or rear clearance light and one as a side marker light. So let me just go ahead and go to my wide angle view just so you can see the light that it cast on the wall behind me while my camera tries to maintain its focus in that dimly lit situation. Let me go back to my close view and I'll go ahead and turn my lights on.
Now, this light features a sealed waterproof housing and lens unit that is submersible, and this has a durable polycarbonate housing, and as you saw, a snap-in red lens over 16 white LEDs. Now, this is going to mount to the surface of your trailer, and this is a 2-Wire pigtail, and it includes the power lead and the ground wire, and in the instance of this light, it does not matter which wire you use for power and which one you use for ground. This is DOT compliant, and it is compatible with 12 volt DC systems. Just to give you some overall measurements, the overall length of this light, we're sitting right at four inches long, and the width, we're sitting right at two inches wide, and the distance between the mounting holes, center to center, we're sitting right at three inches. Get that lined up here for you so you can see, three inches center to center.

Excellent. This has to fit into a rubber gasket between the light and the trailer fender. If the size is even slightly off it won't work.
These are really nice marker light for a replacement on oour motohome.
The light works fine, but it did not come with the hardware to install it. It doesn't help having the light working fine on the workbench when there is no way to attached it to the trailer.

Bright, high quality and waterproof. Probably the best quality replacement for running lights of similar size. My only complaint is that there is no base plate. The light is exactly as shown in the photo. But, since there are no replaceable bulbs, I guess it isn't necessary.
